  • Patent number: 11930070
Abstract: Systems and methods for content storage and retrieval are disclosed herein for accessing portions of a file at a client device. A client device receives a request to access a file at the client device. The file includes file portions that are stored at a web-based storage system in communication with the client device via a network. The client device provides the web-based storage system with access to a metafile stored on the client device. The metafile includes an identifier for each of the file portions for the file and an indication of whether each of the file portions are already stored on the client device. In response to the web-based storage system accessing the metafile stored on the client device to identify a set of file portions that is not stored on the client device, the client device receives the identified set of file portions from the web-based storage system via the network.

  • Publication number: 20240036530
Abstract: The current document is directed to reinforcement-learning-based controllers and managers that control distributed applications and the infrastructure environments in which they run. The reinforcement-learning-based controllers and managers are both referred to as “management-system agents” in this document. Management-system agents are initially trained in simulated environments and specialized training environments before being deployed to live, target distributed computer systems. The management-system agents deployed to live, target distributed computer systems operate in a controller mode, in which they do not explore the control-state space or attempt to learn better policies and value functions, but instead produce traces that are collected and stored for subsequent use.

  • Publication number: 20240036910
Abstract: The current document is directed to a meta-level management system (“MMS”) that aggregates information and functionalities provided by multiple underlying management systems in addition to providing additional information and management functionalities. In one implementation, the MMS creates and maintains a single inventory-and-configuration-management database (“ICMDB”), implemented using a graph database, to store a comprehensive inventory of managed entities known to, and managed by, the multiple underlying management systems. Each managed entity is associated with an entity identifier and is represented in the ICMBD by a node. Managed entities that are managed by two or more of the multiple underlying management systems are represented by nodes that include references to one or more namespaces.

  • Publication number: 20240037495
Abstract: The current document is directed to a meta-level management system (“MMS”) that aggregates information and functionalities provided by multiple management systems and provides additional management functionalities and information. In one implementation, the MMS interfaces to external entities and users through an MMS application programming interface (“API”) implemented as a GraphQL™ interface. The MMS API, in turn, accesses microservices and stream/batch processing components through microservice and stream/batch-processing-component GraphQL interfaces. The MMS employs at least three different databases: (1) an inventory/configuration database; (2) a metrics database that stores metrics derived from time-series data obtained from the multiple management systems and from other information stored in the inventory/configuration database; and (3) an MMS database that stores business insights and other MMS-generated data. A central data bus is implemented by a KAFKA™ event-streaming system.

  • Publication number: 20230125244
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for vapour decontamination of an enclosed space. The apparatus comprises: (a) a reservoir comprising a supply of a liquid decontaminant; and (b) a vaporiser unit in fluid communication with the reservoir. The vaporiser unit comprises: a body that defines a lumen that passes along the length of the body, the lumen comprising a first end and a second end, wherein the first end receives liquid decontaminant from the reservoir; and a heating element that is configured to deliver sufficient thermal energy to effect rapid boiling of the liquid decontaminant within the lumen so that it exits the lumen via an exit port at the second end of the lumen as a vapour. The exit port is configured to deliver the vapour into a flow of a non-heated carrier gas, thereby facilitating distribution of the decontaminant vapour within the enclosed space. The invention also relates to a method for decontaminating surfaces within an enclosed space.
