Patent number: 12175580Abstract: The disclosed technology relates to detection of attention exhibited by a second user to a first user's avatar in a virtual reality environment. A first user's avatar activity and the second user's activity are evaluated to determine the second user's (e.g., via another avatar) attention level directed towards first user's avatar. Information can be sent to notify the first user that the second user's attention level has satisfied attention-level criterion data. For example, if the second user is viewing and/or is within audio range of the first user for too long of a time or too frequently, then the first user can be notified and/or other action taken. Remedial action is available for negative attention, such blocking the second user from experiencing the first user in the environment. Detection of attention for positive purposes is available, such as to reward an influencer whose avatar is receiving significant attention from followers.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2022Date of Patent: December 24, 2024Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Nigel Bradley, Eric Zavesky, James Pratt, Ari Craine, Robert Koch

Patent number: 12170641Abstract: The disclosed technology is generally directed towards monitoring electronic communications to detect content in a communication that is attempting to influence the recipient user in some way. A user can specify influential intent preference data, such as which electronic communications services/applications to monitor for such influential intent content, and the types of the influential intent to monitor for, e.g., political influence types, advertisement influence types, and so on. A user also can specify remedial or other actions to take upon detection, e.g., block such content, alert on detecting such content and so on. An electronic influence manager server and/or application program can perform the monitoring and/or take the actions. Also described is reporting on the communications with influential intent, user actions with respect thereto. Reputation data can also be collected and used with respect to sources of communications with influential intent.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2022Date of Patent: December 17, 2024Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Nigel Bradley, Eric Zavesky, James Pratt, Ari Craine, Robert Koch

Patent number: 12167094Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed towards creating a media content presentation for playback, based on user specified input criteria and playback instructions. A user specifies input criteria related to media source data. The media source data is accessed, and further based on the input criterion, matching segments (e.g., scenes and audio) are determined from metadata information that describes the segments; the media playback content is generated from the matching segments. A user may also specify criteria/instructions that describe how to play the matching segments, such as in linear order, or based on relative relevance such as scene impactfulness. A matching scene can be repeated, and/or augmented with annotation data. For any matching scene or transition between two matching scenes, specified playback speed and audio volume can be specified and applied. As part of generation, the media content presentation can be fit to a specified time constraint.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2022Date of Patent: December 10, 2024Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Nigel Bradley, Eric Zavesky, James Pratt, Ari Craine, Robert Koch

Patent number: 12148051Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed towards devices (nonhuman entities) participating in social networks. Devices that join a nonhuman social network can share information, can learn from other devices, can assist in performing tasks and so forth. A device can search for an existing nonhuman social network that matches its criteria for joining a nonhuman social network, such as a nonhuman social network of the same type of devices, a nonhuman social network within a certain neighborhood, and so on. A device can form a nonhuman social network if one does not exist that meets the device's social network join criteria. A device's user may need to give approval to join and/or form a social network. A human social network can interact with a nonhuman social network, and there can be hybrid social networks of both human and nonhuman entities. A device can change social networks over time.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2022Date of Patent: November 19, 2024Assignee: AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P.Inventors: Nigel Bradley, Eric Zavesky, James Pratt, Ari Craine, Robert Koch

Patent number: 12141217Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed towards virtual reality bookmarks that maintain state data for a user in a virtual reality environment, such that the user can to return to that virtual reality environment at a later time. While presenting virtual reality session content to a user, a system or the like can receive a request to pause the virtual reality session from a user. Session state data, e.g., in the form of a virtual reality bookmark, is saved based on the pause request. A later request to resume presentation of the virtual reality content results in the system accessing the virtual reality session data, which is used to present resumed virtual reality session content to the user based on the session state data. A pause request may be for an individual user or for each user participating in a session. Virtual reality bookmarks may be shared with other users.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2022Date of Patent: November 12, 2024Assignee: AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P.Inventors: Nigel Bradley, Eric Zavesky, James Pratt, Ari Craine, Robert Koch

Publication number: 20240356882Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed towards delivering electronic messages from senders to recipients in an intelligent way, based on the determined likelihood of each recipient acting on a message. Message delivery can be delayed upon delayed message delivery criterion being satisfied, based on user profile data the user establishes for each messaging application. Predicted recipient user availably, predicted recipient user receptivity and/or the identity of the sender, for example, can be used as factors in determining delivery data representing the likelihood of a recipient acting on a message. Delivery of the message is to a recipient's device is delayed when the delivery data satisfies delayed delivery criterion. The delayed delivery time can be determined from the recipient user's predicted availably and/or receptivity data, and/or the identity of the sender. The sender is notified of a delayed message delivery, and can be presented with options as to other actions to take.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2024Publication date: October 24, 2024Inventors: Nigel Bradley, Eric Zavesky, James Pratt, Ari Craine, Robert Koch

Publication number: 20240348521Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed towards managing the establishment and maintenance of communication connectivity between a device and service. Condition data can indicate when to initiate a state change of a connection between a device and a server. Current device conditions associated with the device are evaluated to determine whether to initiate a state change, e.g., from a connected state to a paused state, or vice-versa. The connectivity may be managed per connection type, e.g., cellular versus Wi-Fi, and on a per-application basis, e.g., turned on for a social media application, off for mail and messaging applications. Settings can be used to manage connectivity for an application, e.g., sometimes connected, sometimes paused based on information specific to that application. Trends, user practices and schedule data can be used to predict and manage connectivity, as well as to notify the user to take some action.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2024Publication date: October 17, 2024Inventors: Nigel Bradley, Eric Zavesky, James Pratt, Ari Craine, Robert Koch
