  • Patent number: 8821570
Abstract: Annuloplasty rings are employed to treat heart valve defects, such as regurgitation. Synching the heart tissue to the ring restores the valve opening to its approximate original size and operating efficiency. Adjustable annuloplasty rings allow for a proper degree of synching both during open heart surgery and over the patient's lifetime. A subcutaneous port may be coupled to an adjustable annuloplasty ring such that an external activation energy generator can be used to heat the adjustable annuloplasty ring and thereby adjust the size of the annuloplasty ring.

  • Patent number: 8753407
Abstract: Disclosed is an intraluminal gastrointestinal (GI) device that is placed at the time of surgery to protect a freshly constructed GI anastomosis, GI staple-line, or the like. For the esophagus and stomach, the device covers the esophagus, stomach, and anastomosis/staple-line. For the pancreas or biliary duct, the device covers the biliary duct, pancreatic duct, and small bowel. For the colon and rectum, the device is a self expanding protective barrier that covers the anal canal, the anus, and the colon or rectum, approximately 18 cm proximal to the anus. These devices provide a waterproof barrier between the gastrointestinal content and the mucosa of the GI tract and the newly constructed anastomosis. Additionally, the design of the device is made to prevent migration within the gastrointestinal tract and facilitate removal of the device.

  • Patent number: 8694864
Abstract: Error detection and error location determination circuitry is provided for detecting and locating soft errors in random-access-memory arrays on programmable integrated circuits. The random-access-memory arrays contain rows and columns of random-access-memory cells. Some of the cells are loaded with configuration data and produce static output signals that are used to program associated regions of programmable logic. Cyclic redundancy check error correction check bits are computed for each column of an array. The cyclic redundancy check error correction check bits are stored in corresponding columns of cells in the array. During normal operation of an integrated circuit in a system, the cells are subject to soft errors caused by background radiation strikes. The error detection and error location determination circuitry uses parallel processing to continuously monitor the data to identify the row and column location of each error.

  • Patent number: 8130574
Abstract: Error detection circuitry is provided on a programmable logic resource. Programmable logic resource configuration data is loaded into a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) module where a checksum calculation may be performed. In one embodiment, the checksum may be compared to an expected value, which is a precomputed checksum on data prior to being programmed into or while data is being programmed into a programmable logic resource. In another embodiment, the expected value may be included in the checksum calculation. An output indicating whether an error is detected may be generated depending on the relationship between the checksum and the expected value, or on the value of the checksum. This output may be sent to an output pin that is accessible by user logic.

  • Publication number: 20110313516
Abstract: A percutaneous magnetic catheter may be used to position one or more magnetic components near a magnetically driven prosthesis in a patient's heart in order to adjust the magnetically driven prosthesis. In certain embodiments, the one or more magnetic components are rotatable. Rotation of the one or more magnetic components cause variations in a magnetic field. Variations in the magnetic field may be utilized to adjust the size or shape of a magnetically driven prosthesis. In this way, a magnetically driven prosthesis may be adjusted after a patient has recovered from a surgery in which the magnetically driven prosthesis was implanted. Further, a magnetically driven prosthesis may be adjusted based upon progression of a heart condition.
