The server receives, from the merchant device, an indication that the validation requirement is satisfied, processes a transaction, and transmits, to the merchant device, an indication that the transaction is complete. The merchant device receives the validation request, determines that the validation requirement is satisfied, and transmits the indication that the validation requirement is satisfied to the server. The merchant device receives, from the server, the indication that the transaction is complete and displays the indication that the transaction on the display.

Abstract: A storage gateway serves as an interface between processes on a customer network and a service provider. The storage gateway is located on-premise with the customer processes. To customer processes, it appears that data is stored locally. However, the storage gateway interfaces with a remote storage service to store the data. For cached gateways, the primary data store is a remote data store, while frequently accessed data may be locally cached by the gateway. Reads may be satisfied from the local cache or from virtual data storage; writes are handled so as to appropriately update data blocks in the local cache and/or in virtual data storage. For shadowing gateways, the primary data store is the local data store; reads are passed through to a local data store, and writes are shadowed to virtual data storage as well as being sent to local data store.

Abstract: A validation terminal located at a registered location comprises a barcode reader, a memory, and a processor. The memory stores a public key that is paired with a private key linked with the registered location of the validation terminal. The processor is operably coupled to the barcode reader and the memory, and is configured to detect an encrypted barcode that was scanned by the barcode reader from a mobile device that is located at the registered location of the validation terminal. The encrypted barcode is based at least in part upon transaction information associated with products in a digital cart, and the encrypted barcode is encrypted using the private key. The processor is further configured to decrypt the encrypted barcode using the stored public key, and to indicate the transaction is valid in response to decrypting the encrypted barcode using the public key.

Abstract: Techniques are described that enable a user to upgrade a stack of resources by providing a template that reflects the desired end state of the stack. Upon receiving a new template, the system automatically detects changes that should be performed and determines the order in which the changes should be performed. The system can also detect if the desired changes to the stack are a result of direct modifications; because parameters to the resources have changed; or the changes are indirectly caused by other dependency/attribute changing. Additionally, the system determines whether the changes require creating new resources or if the changes can be made to the resources live. In case of replacement of resources, the system will first create the new resource, move that new resource into the stack and remove the old resource(s). In case of failures, the system ensures that the stack rolls back to the initial state.

The example apparatus includes a predictor to generate a prediction on a likelihood that a portion of second media will trigger an adverse neurological medical event in the user based the portion of the second media and the first neurological response data. The example apparatus includes a content modifier to modify the portion of the second media to create modified media in response to the prediction and output the modified media for presentation to the user.

Abstract: A system includes a set of low resource devices, each configured to receive transactions to be added to an encrypted block chain ledger from a sample of untrusted high resource devices, prepare a proposed block of the received transactions, provide the proposed block to the sample of untrusted high resource devices, receive proposed blocks from the untrusted high resource devices originating from the set of low resource devices. The low resource devices run a consensus protocol to select one proposed block to add to the encrypted block chain ledger stored on the untrusted high resource devices.

Abstract: A transport service system automatically associates road sign information with road segments based on image data including a representation of the road sign. The transport service system receives image data from one or more camera systems. Based on the image data, the transport service system determines a distance score and an orientation score for one or more candidate road segments. The transport service system additionally determines whether the image data is anomalous. Based on the determined distance and orientation scores, the transport service system generates a composite score and a confidence score for each candidate road segment. The confidence score is adjusted based on whether the image data is anomalous. Based on the generated scores, the transport service system identifies a most likely candidate road segment for association with the road sign.
