Publication number: 20190080797Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, methods, and software for monitoring compliance of sanitizees (e.g., health care workers, food service workers, sanitization/janitorial workers etc.) with sanitization protocols to be followed for encounters with sanitization-protocol targets (e.g., patients, food-preparation areas, health care facilities/appurtenances, restrooms, etc.). In one example, a system includes sanitization verification systems located close to the targets and mobile node devices issued to the sanitizees. Each verification system can be configured to test the efficacy of sanitization procedures performed by the sanitizees prior to encountering a target, to provide authorizations, via the node devices, to the sanitizees to proceed with target encounters, and to open monitoring sessions during which the node devices record information concerning interactions with the targets.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 13, 2018Publication date: March 14, 2019Inventors: Michael G. Colburn, Nitai Friedman

Publication number: 20140212821Abstract: A flame-emitting apparatus is provided, whereby a burner has an inlet connected to a fuel source. Fuel burned by the burner provides a flame extending from an outlet of the burner. A flame ignition system detects the presence of the flame during operation of the apparatus and controls supply of fuel to the burner in response to flame detection.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 28, 2014Publication date: July 31, 2014Inventors: Cristian Mitori Banu, Jean Francis Defoy, Nitai Friedman

Patent number: 8453382Abstract: An entry control apparatus includes a pair of spaced barriers forming a pathway therebetween. The barriers are positioned adjacent a doorway to control ingress into and egress from a building or the like. An arm is pivotally mounted and extends across the pathway and permits free movement of people in one direction and selectively restricts movement in the other direction. A motion sensor is provided and a motion control system is associated with the sensor. The sensor and motion control system cooperate to selectively allow the arm to move to a normally open position for normal traffic in an approved direction. In the event a person approaches the apparatus, as if to exit, or move in the wrong direction through the pathway, the sensor detects the movement and effects operation of the motion control system that locks the arm against movement to prevent movement through the passageway. An alarm system can be provided to alert personnel that an unauthorized movement through the pathway may be underway.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2007Date of Patent: June 4, 2013Inventors: Stephen Kucer, Nitai Friedman

Patent number: 7241977Abstract: An apparatus for cooking a food item therein is disclosed. The apparatus has a housing defining an interior and includes at least first and second opposed walls. A rotating member is positioned between the first and second walls of the housing, and the rotating member is capable of engaging and rotating the food item. A drive mechanism is mounted on the apparatus for rotating the rotating member. A heating element is positioned adjacent the second wall of the housing, and a blackbody radiator is positioned between the rotating member and the heating element. The heating element heats a first side of the blackbody radiator and a second side of the blackbody radiator emits radiation in a highly effective wavelength spectrum toward the food item. The apparatus also includes a self cleaning system for cleaning the interior.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2006Date of Patent: July 10, 2007Assignee: Hardt Equipment Manufacturing Inc.Inventors: David Friedl, Nitai Friedman, Kenneth M. Patent number: 6965094Abstract: An automatically operated steamer for cooking and warming food products is described. The steamer uses three operating thermostatic controls, a housing with a reservoir in the bottom thereof, and an electrical heat source disposed below said reservoir to heat the same. When cold water is admitted to the reservoir a thermostat closes to generate heat to warm the water and as the water warms, the flow of the water into the reservoir ceases. When the reservoir water reaches a temperature slightly above its boiling point, a second thermostat operates to control the temperature to keep the water boiling until it completely evaporates. When the water evaporates the heat within the device steamer increases, and another thermostat opens at a predetermined elevated temperature to signal for the addition of water to the reservoir.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2004Date of Patent: November 15, 2005Inventor: Nitai Friedman
