Patent number: 5659888Abstract: A radio telephone device (1) is provided with a reed switch (13) arranged between a radio section (12) and a rod antenna (15) in a telephone set main body (10), which connects the radio section (12) and the rod antenna (15) with each other when the telephone set main body (10) is separated from a car kit (20). The car kit is provided with a magnet (27) which magnetically energizes the reed switch (13) when the telephone set main body (10) is placed on the car kit (20) so that the reed switch (13) is turned into a mode where the radio section (12) and an external antenna (26) are connected to each other. Hence it is possible to execute switching the antenna line between the rod antenna (15) of the telephone set main body (10) and the external antenna (26) of the car kit (20) without inviting any increase in the consumption of electric current and without making the circuits more complicated.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 1994Date of Patent: August 19, 1997Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Syozi Kato, Noboru Koike

Patent number: 5583519Abstract: This extendable antenna is related to an extendable antenna for a portable radio transceiver. The antenna has a first antenna portion and a second antenna portion connected with a connecting portion of the first antenna portion. The first antenna has a loading coil which is enclosed in a top end cap. When the second antenna portion is retracted into a housing, the connecting portion is held by a holding member disposed in the top of the housing, and the connecting portion is ellectrically connected with the circuitry of the transceiver via the holding member. Furthermore, the electrical length of the loading coil is a quarter wavelength, while the physical length of the loading coil is much less than a quarter wavelength. Accordingly, even if the top end cap is only located out of the housing, the first antenna portion detects a radio frequency signal.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1993Date of Patent: December 10, 1996Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventor: Noboru Koike

Patent number: 5557507Abstract: An electronic apparatus includes first and second circuitry blocks mounted on opposite surfaces of a double-sided circuit board. A first shield case is attached to the circuit board so that the first shield case covers the first circuitry block. A second circuitry block is attached to the circuit board so that the second shield case covers the second circuitry block. A conductive component contacts the first and second shield cases and is engaged with the edge of the circuit board for enabling the circuit board to be electrically connected to the first and second shield cases.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1994Date of Patent: September 17, 1996Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Noboru Koike, Hirokazu Seraku

Patent number: 5521605Abstract: The present invention relates to an extendable antenna for use in a portable radio transceiver. The extendable antenna has a first antenna portion and a second antenna portion connected with a connecting portion of the first antenna portion. The first antenna portion includes a loading coil which is enclosed in a top end cap. When the second antenna portion is retracted into a housing, the connecting portion is held by a holding member disposed in the top of the housing, and the connecting portion is electrically connected with the circuitry of the transceiver via the holding member. In one embodiment, the electrical length of the loading coil is a quarter wavelength, while the physical length of the loading coil is much less than a quarter wavelength. Accordingly, even if the top end cap is the only portion of the extendable antenna located outside the housing, the first antenna portion detects a radio frequency signal.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1994Date of Patent: May 28, 1996Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventor: Noboru Koike

Patent number: 5438482Abstract: A shield structure for use in an electronic apparatus includes a shield case for covering a first and second circuitry block and for isolating each other. In order to enhance the electrical connection of the shield case to a first ground on a first circuit board and a second ground on a second circuit board, a conductive component is fastened to the shield case. The conductive component includes a fastening portion, a first contact portion contacting the first ground, and a second contact portion contacting the second ground.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1994Date of Patent: August 1, 1995Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Yutaka Nakamura, Noboru Koike

Patent number: 5434582Abstract: An extendable antenna which has a cylindrical antenna guide for slidably retracting a first antenna portion of the extendable antenna into the interior of a housing of a radio transceiver in which the antenna guide is provided at its one end with a cylindrical grounding connection member connected to a grounded portion of the radio transceiver and to be brought into contact with a first contact portion of the antenna when the first antenna portion is retracted into the interior of the housing. The grounding connection member is disposed to contact with the housing so as to face a water drain hole provided in the housing, whereby, when the first antenna portion with rain water attached thereto is retracted into the interior of the housing, the rain water introduced into the antenna guide is guided through the interior of the cylindrical grounding connection member and discharged through the water drain hole of the housing to the outside of the radio transceiver.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1993Date of Patent: July 18, 1995Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Noboru Koike, Hirokazu Seraku

Patent number: 5079558Abstract: An extendable antenna device which is reducible in length when accommodated and ensures enough elasticity at an area of junction to a housing of a radio device. A first elongated flexible antenna section is connected slidably with a second antenna section. A hold mechanism is provided which holds the first antenna section against the housing of the radio device, and which accommodates and holds the first and second antenna sections in the housing of the radio device.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1989Date of Patent: January 7, 1992Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventor: Noboru Koike

Patent number: 5067054Abstract: A beam-forming shade for use in a vehicular headlamp comprising a cylindrical shade body disposed horizontally in surrounding relation to a bulb of the vehicular headlamp so as to interrupt some parts of light emitted from a light source and a connecting member extending downwardly from the shade body and having a single mounting hole to be attached to a reflector by a single screw. The shade of the present invention is obtained by bending a single thin metal plate which is previously cut to form a predetermined contour, which plate having a continuous developed form of the cylindrical shade body and the connecting member, thereby obtaining an integral shade.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1990Date of Patent: November 19, 1991Assignee: Koito Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hirohiko Oshio, Noboru Koike, Takasi Ochiai

Patent number: 4603829Abstract: An improved system for fixedly mounting a case or the like box-shaped article onto the body of a motorcar is disclosed. The case is first placed on a mounting base fixedly secured to the body of motorcar by fitting a plurality of projections into holes on the mounting base and thereafter by operating a displacing device with the aid of a key the case is displaced relative to the mounting base so that the former is fixedly mounted on the latter. Each of the projections is formed with a V-shaped annular groove and each of the holes includes a larger diameter portion of which diameter is dimensioned larger than that of the projections and a smaller diameter portion formed by cutting a part of the larger diameter portion with a circle having the diameter dimensioned smaller than that of the larger diameter portion.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1984Date of Patent: August 5, 1986Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Noboru Koike, Hidenari Kitamura, Tsuneo Tomita
