  • Publication number: 20060092188
Abstract: A display device having an on-screen display (OSD) function receives an YUV video signal such as the camera video signal or broadcast video signal of YUV format from a camera or recording medium, receives an RGB-OSD signal from a circuit device (serial interface) of another system different from this YUV video signal, causes a memory within an OSD processor to store the OSD signal, converts an RGB video signal resulting from converting the YUV video signal to a panel-matched RGB video signal synchronized with a display synchronization signal, reads a panel-matched RGB OSD signal from the memory of the OSD processor in synchronism with this display synchronization signal, composes those RGB video signal and OSD signal, using an OSD composer, and supplies the resulting RGB composite video signal and the display synchronization signal to a display panel.

  • Publication number: 20060010404
Abstract: A display device displays corrected externally-supplied video signals, and includes plural pixels, a scanning driver and a signal driver which applies display voltages to signal lines coupled to the pixels. The signal driver includes a first converter which converts a format of the externally supplied video signals into a first format, a memory which stores the video signals from the first converter temporarily, a correction circuit which computes correction values based upon the video signals from the first converter and the video signals in the memory and corrects the video signals from the first converter based upon the correction values, and a second converter which converts the first format of the video signals from the correction circuit to a format of the display voltages. The memory stores the correction values also, and the correction circuit corrects the video signals in the memory based upon the correction values in the memory.

Abstract: A display device of the present invention includes a plural scan lines, plural signal lines each intersecting each of the plural scan lines, plural counter-electrode lines each extending along each of the plural scan lines, plural pixels each connected to each of the plural scan lines, to each of the plural signal lines, and to each of the counter-electrode lines, a scan driver which applies a scanning signal to each of the plural scan lines, a signal driver which applies a signal voltage to each of the plural signal lines, a counter-electrode driver which applies a counter-electrode voltage to each of the counter-electrode lines, and a generator which supplies a counter-electrode signal to the third driver. When the scanning signal is applied to one of the scan lines, the counter-electrode driver applies the counter-electrode signal to the counter-electrode line associated with the scan line.

  • Publication number: 20050088432
Abstract: A display device includes a plurality of pixels, a plurality of signal lines connected to the plurality of pixels and a drive circuit connected to the plurality of signal lines. The drive circuit includes a distribution port and a decoder, wherein the distribution port distributes supplied data to corresponding circuit portions in the decoder, and the decoder selects gray scale voltages based upon the data from the distribution port. The distribution port includes a first switching stage having two switching elements and a second switching stage having four switching elements and which is electrically connected to the first switching stage. The decoder is disposed between the second switching stage and the plurality of signal lines.

  • Publication number: 20050057475
Abstract: A plurality of horizontal display control lines CTL are arranged in parallel with signal lines D and connected to switching elements ctl of pixels. Among pixels whose switching elements sw become an On state owing to a selection voltage from a gate line G, switching elements ctl of pixels for which display signals are not rewritten are turned off not to apply a display signal to liquid crystal cells of those pixels. And pixels for which display signals are to be rewritten, the horizontal display control circuit 109 applies a rewrite selection signal to those pixels to turn on switching elements ctl of those pixels. Thus, applying display signals that are outputted from a signal circuit and correspond to those pixels having the switching elements ctl turned on to liquid crystal cells of those pixels, display signals are rewritten.

  • Patent number: 6839047
Abstract: A display device has pixels, signal lines coupled to the pixels, and a video signal drive circuit for supplying signals to the signal lines in parallel, based upon data transferred serially from an external system. The video signal drive circuit includes plural stages each formed by a column of switching elements. The switching elements of each stage double successively in number as a final stage is approached. Each of the switching elements of each stage excluding the final stage is connected to a pair of switching elements in a succeeding stage. Each of the pair of switching elements is repeatedly and alternately switched ON with the other of the pair of switching elements being switched OFF, and a frequency of the ON-OFF switching of the pair of switching elements of each stage is successively halved as the final stage is approached.
