  • Patent number: 8286003
Abstract: An address list management apparatus stores, for each user of an MFP (Multi Function Peripheral), a different address list that lists address information pieces for transmission of image data by the MFP. Upon being instructed by a logged-in user to transmit image data, the MFP transmits, to the address list management apparatus, a request for the address list that specifies the user. Upon receiving the request, the address list management apparatus transmits, to the MFP, a sending list pertaining to the user. The sending list is created by deleting secret information from address information pieces in the address list, and modifying such address information pieces so that image data is transmitted to the address list management apparatus. The address list management apparatus refers to the address list, and transfers the image data to the specified address.

  • Patent number: 8260866
Abstract: Upon accepting, from a user B, a new registration of a configuration showing that the user B wishes to receive data via a FAX, a server sets a notification flag to an address book of a user A which includes an address of the user B. Upon accepting a login of the user A, an MFP displays a message to notify the user A of the new registration by the user B, based on the notification flag. The user A, who has notified of the new registration, can transmit the data to the user B with use of the new registration configured by the user B, namely via a FAX. Accordingly, the user B can receive the data via a FAX as the user B wishes.

  • Patent number: 8213028
Abstract: An image processing system and a software program which simplify customizations when a program for operations in connection with image processing is installed in a plural number of image processing apparatuses. When a program for operations in connection with image processing is newly installed in a first MFP, the first MFP makes an inquiry to other MFPs which are connected to the first MFP via a network. When a second MFP is already installed with the same program and has information on individual users' settings for the program, the first MFP receives the setting information from the second MFP. Then, referring to history information and device information, the first MFP judges whether to store the setting information therein and whether to make modifications to the setting information.

  • Publication number: 20090303525
Abstract: An image forming apparatus analyzes a specified job to identify processing operations composing a process and a processing amount such as the number of copies and obtains unit prices set for the respective processing operations, from a charging map associated with a user who is an issuer of the job. By set documents being scanned, the number of documents are identified and charges are calculated based on the number of documents, the number of copies, and the obtained unit prices. The calculated charges are presented. When, at that stage, an instruction to perform the job is made, a copying process is performed. Then, after the copying process, charges are calculated based on the actual number of copies made and the unit prices.
