  • Publication number: 20160097646
Abstract: A user who is traveling through a region may receive information from a device, such as vehicle status (e.g., speed and fuel status); the current environment (e.g., ambient temperature and weather); the user's route (e.g., traffic and accident notification); and/or a content stream (e.g., a radio or podcast). However, such information may be unrelated to the user's focus or motivation for traveling, and may be distracting. The user may request and receive information about the travel topic, but some users may not have available attention and/or the impetus to initiate such requests. Instead, a device may detect a current location and direction of the user; predict the user's destination according to the current location and direction; and retrieve and present to the user one or more content items that are associated with the predicted destination (e.g., breaking news alerts involving an entity or organization located at the user's predicted destination).

  • Patent number: 9299113
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for populating an information interface based upon social media data. For example, users may post, share, and/or discuss various information through social media sources. Accordingly, social media data may be obtained from such social media sources. The social media data may be grouped into sets of social media data based upon temporal information. Within the sets of social media data, social media entries may be clustered into topic clusters (e.g., a royal wedding topic cluster, a plane crash topic cluster, etc.). Event summaries may be generated for respective topic clusters. The event summaries may be used to populate timeslots of an information interface, such as a calendar or timeline, to create annotated timeslots. In this way, the information interface may provide users with an interactive view of events over a time period, such as a year-in-review, based upon social media data.

  • Publication number: 20150302112
Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for generating a transition graph from check-in data for determining probabilistic transitions of a user from an origin (location) to a destination. Check-in data for a plurality of users is obtained. The check-in data is organized and analyzed to determine a set of transition tuples for each of the plurality of users. These transition tuples are aggregated and used to generate a transition graph comprising a plurality of nodes and edges. Each node corresponds to a location and each edge indicates a transition from an origin node to a destination node and is associated with a likelihood of a user transitioning from the origin node to the destination node.

  • Patent number: 9074838
Abstract: A projectile launcher capable of optionally repositioning the bolt to a predefined position using a bolt carrier is disclosed. The launcher, in one aspect, includes a bolt, a striker, a bolt carrier, and a ramp. The bolt, in one example, is configured to be able to move within a bolt chamber. The striker having a striker reset hook is able to move in a direction parallel to a moving direction of the bolt. The bolt carrier, having a fastener, a flexible latch, and a bolt repositioning latch, is attached to the bolt via the fastener. The flexible latch is able to latch to the striker reset hook for resetting the striker during a process of launching a projectile. • Patent number: 9068792
Abstract: A projectile launching device such as a paintball gun capable of firing a paintball using a hammer is disclosed. The paintball gun, in one embodiment, includes a bolt, a valve, and a hammer wherein the bolt has an air channel and is able to move within a bolt chamber. The valve, which is situated in a firing control chamber arranged in parallel to the bolt chamber, controls pressurized gas. The hammer, in one aspect, includes a pivot hole capable of hosting a pivot pin which facilitates a swing motion for the hammer. When the hammer swings around the pivot hole, the hammer contacts the valve whereby a portion of the pressurized gas is release. The bolt further includes a hammer reset element which is able to reset the hammer to a ready for firing position during a launch process.

  • Publication number: 20150169772
Abstract: Systems, methods, and media for responding to search queries from a computer user with personalized search results are presented. A user vector is generated for a user. The user vector is generated by repeatedly accessing a plurality of network sites to obtain user-generated content, and updating the user vector according to the user-generated content. Moreover, a plurality of search results is identified in response to a query. Each of the search results is associated with a score. A user vector is obtained and the scores of the search results are weighted. A subset of the search results having favorable scores is selected and a search results page is generated from the subset of search results. The generated search results page is returned in response to the search query.

For example, discussion data (e.g., corresponding to real-time messaging, such as a microblog discussion) may be evaluated to identify a discussion topic for a discussion sessions (e.g., a kitchen renovation topic may be assigned to a 1 hour exchange of kitchen renovation messages by a discussion group). A discussion summary of a discussion session may be provided based upon the discussion session having a discussion topic corresponding to a search query topic of a search query. The discussion summary may be provided along with other results for the query and may describe the discussion group, identifiers such as hashtags used by the discussion group, meeting dates/times, average number(s) of participants, other discussion sessions hosted by the discussion group, future discussion sessions, and/or other information.

  • Publication number: 20150046442
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for augmenting search results with a user defined suggestion and/or for providing a user defined suggestion. For example, a venue entity may be associated with search results and/or user information (e.g., a set of search results may correspond to the Eiffel Tower). User defined data associated with the venue entity may be evaluated to generate a user defined suggestion associated with the venue entity. For example, user generated content about the Eiffel Tower, such as tips, advice, opinions, and/or other information specified by social network users, may be evaluated to determine a user defined suggestion “get tower tickets early, they sell out fast”. The user defined suggestion may be provided to a user (e.g., visiting the venue entity) and/or used to augment the set of search results. In this way, practical information, derived from opinions shared by other users, may be provided.
