  • Patent number: 5300225
Abstract: A vacuum cleaned micro-strainer is provided. The apparatus uses a rotating cylinder-shaped set of filtering screens through which waste water flows. A vacuum head centered above the cylindrical screen assembly sucks particulate matter from the screens. The micro-strainer is constructed of inexpensive, corrosion resistant, lightweight materials which minimize replacement and maintenance. The invention offers a cost-effective means for filtration of particulate matter from water generated by fish culture systems, cooling tower systems and waste water treatment systems while minimizing the collection of water.

  • Patent number: 5300837
Abstract: An integrated circuit has a signal path including a first circuit that introduces a propagation delay that decreases with circuit conditions and process speed in series with a second circuit that introduces a propagation delay that increases with circuit conditions and process speed. The circuit conditions and process speed are sensed and the duration of the propagation delay of the second circuit varied such that the total propagation delay remains within a predetermined range over circuit condition and process speed variations. In another embodiment of the invention, a current source develops a bias current to control the duration of the propagation delay of the second circuit. In yet another embodiment of the invention the current source is a current mirror.

  • Patent number: 5299745
Abstract: The preparation of carbonaceous dry aggregates for the production of electrodes requires, for electrode plants, extensive and expensive silo installations in order for dry substances to be processed and stored in a discrete manner until they are mixed. For that purpose, in relation to known preparation processes it is difficult to maintain given granulometry lines. The invention proposes a preparation process which requires a small number of small silos and involves mixing and grading procedures with which granulometries are simple to adjust and can be kept within narrow tolerance ranges.

  • Patent number: 5298725
Abstract: A security management system that utilizes bar codes to document inspections made by security officers at various areas being inspected. The system includes software, data scanners, data transmitters, a personal computer and noncopiable bar code labels. Noncopiable bar code labels are placed on security padlocks used to secure lock bar cabinets, on safes containing classified material and on secure area entrances and exits. When making the security rounds, the security officer will scan the bar code label on the padlock, safe or secure area entrance or exit. Later this information is processed by computer to generate a report showing the date, time and location of the inspection, and the identity of the inspecting officer.

  • Patent number: 5298863
Abstract: A gradient coil for generating a periodically changing read-out gradient in a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus is operated in a series resonant circuit having a capacitor. One of the elements of the series resonant circuit is charged before the beginning of each read-out gradient. The gradient coil can be charged with current, or the capacitor can be charged with voltage. Such operation either avoids or significantly shortens the transient effect which occurs after excitation of the nuclear spins. The use of a series resonant circuit instead of a parallel resonant circuit significantly reduces the voltage load on the gradient amplifier, so that the gradient amplifier can be constructed simpler and more inexpensively.

  • Patent number: 5295388
Abstract: Method and apparatus for performing remote impact testing for generator stator wedges and ripple springs. An improved low profile carriage is utilized for correlating wedge displacement data with the force required to displace the wedge. A calibrated test stand, in which exemplary wedges are placed under a known loading via a hydraulic load cell, provides means for generating calibration curve sets. From the graphed forcedisplacement curves generated from wedges placed under a known loading, force and displacement data generated during actual stator testing can be analyzed to measure the tightness or looseness of stator wedges, coils and ripple springs. In the preferred embodiment of the low profile carriage of the present invention, a capacitive sensor is used to directly measure the displacement or vibration of stator wedges as a result of being struck by an impact hammer with a known force.

  • Patent number: 5296961
Abstract: A dichroic optical filter including a substrate that is substantially transparent to visible radiation, and an oxide semiconductor layer on the substrate for reflecting an infrared wavelength (such as an infrared treatment beam wavelength). An example of a suitable oxide semiconductor for reflecting a treatment beam from a CO.sub.2 layer is indium tin oxide. Preferably, the filter includes a specially designed multilayer coating on the oxide semiconductor layer to enhance the reflection of infrared and longer wavelength radiation. This multilayer coating includes alternating quarter-wave layers of high and low refractive index materials, each having an optical thickness substantially equal to a quarter-wavelength of infrared radiation to be reflected.

  • Patent number: 5292480
Abstract: A corrosion inhibitor with excellent film forming and film persistency characteristics may be produced by first reacting C.sub.18 unsaturated fatty acids with maleic anhydride or fumaric acid to produce the fatty acid Diels-Alder adduct or the fatty acid-ene reaction product. This adduct or reaction product is further reacted in a condensation or hydrolysation reaction with a polyalcohol to form an acid-anhydride ester corrosion inhibitor. The ester may be reacted with amines, metal hydroxides, metal oxides, ammonia, and combinations thereof to neutralize the ester. Surfactants may be added to tailor the inhibitor formulation to meet the specific needs of the user (i.e., the corrosion inhibitor may be formulated to produce an oil-soluble, highly water-dispersible corrosion inhibitor or an oil-dispersible, water-soluble corrosion inhibitor). Suitable carrier solvents may be employed where needed to effectively disperse the corrosion inhibitor formulation.

  • Patent number: 5290259
Abstract: A double syringe delivery system is disclosed for holding a pair of syringes in a manner so as to accommodate the simultaneous activation of the plunger of each syringe in order to effect simultaneous delivery of the contents of each syringe. The double syringe delivery system includes an elongated support member that is placed between the barrel of each syringe. The elongated support member has resilient, C-shaped clamps on opposite sides of the support member. The clamps are used for holding the syringe barrels of both syringes so that the syringe barrels will be held together in a parallel manner. Further, elongated support member and clamps hold the syringe barrels in a fashion that is slightly longitudinally offset from one another to permit the two syringe barrels to be held together as closely as possible. An interconnecting bridge member connects the two syringe plungers so that they can also be simultaneously activated even though they are also slightly longitudinally offset from one another.
