  • Publication number: 20060047761
Abstract: The instant messaging and presence (IMP) protocol implementations are swapped in and out as a client application roams among various service provider networks. The IMP API, and hence the IMP application, remains unchanged. Moreover, the IMP application continues to operate seamlessly and transparently. When the client application roams and a service provider change is detected, the system signals to the new service provider a profile containing the old IMP session details. A new IMP implementation is swapped into the existing IMP application. The IMP implementation may be downloaded in real-time, or it may exist on a SIM card or an SD card, or other suitable memory device.

  • Publication number: 20060038708
Abstract: A delta-sigma modulator. The novel delta-sigma modulator includes one or more filter stages arranged in cascade, wherein each filter stage includes a first circuit for generating a first output signal and second circuit for generating a second output signal; and a summing circuit for adding the first and second output signals from each of the filter stages. In an illustrative embodiment, the first circuit is a bandpass filter including an inductive-capacitive resonator and the second circuit is an integrator, which generates a second output signal that is orthogonal to the first output signal. The output of the summing circuit is digitized and then converted back to analog to provide a feedback signal. The feedback signal is subtracted from an input signal, and the resultant difference signal is input to a first filter stage.

  • Patent number: 7002499
Abstract: A digital-to-analog converter is disclosed, comprising an input/output circuit, a bistable circuit connected with the input/output circuit, a clock circuit connected with the input/output circuit and the bistable circuit, and a current generator circuit connected with the clock circuit. The clock circuit acts as a switch, providing current from the current generator either to the input/output circuit or to the bistable circuit. The digital input signal switches when the current generator provides current to the bistable circuit, and switching of the input signal is asserted at the output of the converter when the current generator provides current to the input/output circuit. Therefore, switching of a clock circuit signal, rather than switching of the digital input signal determines switching of the output signal, in order to reduce intersymbol interference of the converter associated with thermal hysteresis of some of the components of the converter.

Example embodiments provide an Enhanced Content Display System “ECDS,” which supports the management and presentation of previously recorded program content in a non-linear fashion and allows subscribers, using a variety of techniques, to specify which portions of programs or other content is of interest, thus enhancing their viewing experiences. In one embodiment, the ECDS includes an Intelligent Media Data Server (“IMDS”) that generates enhanced meta-data that are associated with portions of the delivered broadcasted content or video content. Using the generated enhanced meta-data, the ECDS helps subscribers locate, organize, and otherwise manage content that is delivered from a content distribution facility. • Patent number: 6996625
Abstract: Techniques for arranging operations performable on information in an information processing system are provided. In a system having a plurality of information producers and a plurality of information subscribers, paths are identified over which information traverses, and within which the information is subject to select and/or transform operations. The present invention optimizes the system by reorganizing the sequence of select and transform operations so that transforms follow select operations; and by combining multiple select and transform operations into single select and transform operations, respectively. Using these optimizations, the processing resources of the system can be reorganized, and/or information flow graphs describing the system can be designed, so that the select operations are “pushed” toward the producers, and transform operations are “pushed” toward the subscribers. Efficient content-based routing systems can then be used to implement the select operations.
