  • Patent number: 6900608
Abstract: An apparatus optimizes arm velocity when the arm is carrying a given payload. More specifically, the apparatus controls the performance of a motor so that the motor can move the arm at an arm maximum velocity when the arm is carrying the given payload. To that end, the apparatus includes an information input to receive motor performance information, and a controller operatively coupled with the information input. The controller is capable of determining the arm maximum velocity from the motor performance information. The controller also is capable of causing the motor to move the arm at the arm maximum velocity.

  • Publication number: 20050114769
Abstract: A source code editor is used to develop multilanguage documents while providing the advanced editing functionality of secondary editors and without requiring the programmer to explicitly open and interface with the secondary editors. The multilanguage document is presented to the user in a primary application view of the primary editor. Code segments written in different languages are identified and sent to the appropriate secondary editors, which in turn create secondary documents that are transparent to the programmer. As edits are made to the primary application view of the document, the edits are replicated by the secondary editors behind the scene. Functionality that is enabled by the secondary editors, such as syntax coloring, auto-completion, and validation is identified by the primary editor and replicated in the primary application view, so as to appear as if the primary editor is inherently configured with the leveraged functionality of the secondary editors.

  • Publication number: 20050104717
Abstract: Systems and methods for remote control of a wireless communication device are provided. Remote access to a wireless communication device is obtained through a packet switched mobile terminated data call. The data call can also be originated from the wireless communication device. Authentication and validation procedures facilitate secure remote control access to the wireless communication device by one or more remote control access points. Once a remote control access session has been established, the remote control access point can execute commands on the wireless communication device, including initiating voice calls and scheduling future commands. Additionally, an audio-video teleconference can be initiated using streaming video and voice over IP.

  • Publication number: 20050091035
Abstract: A system and method is provided for handling the collation of linguistic symbols of different languages that may have various types of compressions (e.g., from 2-to-1 to 8-to-1). A symbol table of the symbols identified as Unicode code points is generated, with each symbol tagged with a highest compression type of that symbol by sorting the compression tables of the various languages. During a sorting operation with respect to a given string, the tag of a symbol in the string is checked to identify the highest compression type of compressions beginning with that symbol, and the compression tables for the language with compression types equal or lower than the highest compression type of the symbol are searched using a binary search method to find a matching compression for the symbols in the string. A common search module is used to perform binary searches through compression tables of different compression types.

  • Patent number: 6885665
Abstract: A switching apparatus distributes incoming calls to end point terminals that belong to a service group and that interact with the switching apparatus via messages. The messages query the end point terminals by specifying a range and asking those end point terminals that meet a criterion associated with the range to respond. By iteratively narrowing the range, for example, in a binary search fashion, one of the end point terminals is selected. In one embodiment, the range relates to fixed sequence IDs of the end point terminals and the criterion relates to whether an end point terminal is idle or not. In another embodiment, the range incorporates the idle/not idle state of the end point terminals by specifying idle time durations.

  • Patent number: 6882623
Abstract: A method and system for data traffic management in telecommunications networks is presented. End user data streams are aggregated to achieve more efficient use of a communication channel. Bandwidth is dynamically allocated to the data streams of the various users, effectively reducing their communications costs. The system includes a class of service selector and a plurality of stream selectors. Each stream selector is associated with a single budget category. Data is placed into queues according to a priority assigned by the end user. Data packets are transmitted from their queues through the class of service selector and through one of the stream selectors in response to the traffic provided by the end users and the budget category subscriptions of the end users.
