  • Publication number: 20130233189
Abstract: A system and method for forming indicia on a substrate. The system includes a feed system for feeding the substrate and a plurality of stations each operable to apply a processing step to the substrate. A first of the plurality of stations applies an energy curable ink to the substrate using a printing process. In some embodiments, this printing process is a gravure cylinder having indicia grooves formed on the gravure cylinder. The indicia grooves on the cylinder retain the energy curable ink until contact with the substrate whereby the energy curable ink is applied to the substrate. A curing unit is disposed downstream of the first of the plurality of stations. The curing unit receives the substrate and outputs an electron beam directed toward the energy curable ink to cure the energy curable ink and form a resultant energy curable layer upon the substrate.

  • Patent number: 8533840
Abstract: The method of quantifying risk, implemented as a computerized program, quantifies the risk of releasing security sensitive words, data objects, characters or icons which may be part of data subject to analysis (target data). Security words, etc. are categorized, pre-existing data for each category is obtained and the categories (and subsumed pre-existing data) are ranked by risk. The target data is compared to the compiled pre-existing data and a risk output is generated. For unknown or undefined words, an indeterminable category is created and is ranked. The method may include inference engines, and contextual routines to add semantic equivalents and opposites to the critical list. Search engines may be employed to add to the list. A differential rank quantifier is assigned to the security words, etc. which has a different rank than the associated category. Frequency analysis, source analysis and stochastic analysis is also used. The risk output is altered.

  • Patent number: 8533446
Abstract: A database startup service is launched at the boot time of a computer that is configured to receive requests to start the execution of a database server. A business application plug-in is then started in a minimal functionality mode of operation. The plug-in determines whether an action has been performed that requires access to a database. If access to the database is needed, the plug-in transmits a request to the database startup service to start the database service. Once the database server has been started, the plug-in transitions to a full functionality mode of operation where all of the functionality provided by the plug-in is enabled. The plug-in might also determine that access to the database is no longer needed. In response thereto, the plug-in may transmit a request to the database startup service to terminate the execution of the database server.
