  • Patent number: 8108438
Abstract: A dictionary at least partially spans a set of discrete q-length signals. The atoms of the dictionary are eigenvectors of a representation of a commutative subgroup of a finite symplectic group. The dictionary may be used for interpreting a radar signal, denoising a signal, compressing data, finding a sparse representation, deblurring at a signal finding a sparse representation of a signal, encoding a signal for communication, encoding a symbol for CDMF communication, classifying a data set and generating a random number.

  • Patent number: 8108691
Abstract: A secure memory card with encryption capabilities comprises various life cycle states that allow for testing of the hardware and software of the card in certain of the states. The testing mechanisms are disabled in certain other of the states thus closing potential back doors to secure data and cryptographic keys. Controlled availability and generation of the keys required for encryption and decryption of data is such that even if back doors are accessed that previously encrypted data is impossible to decrypt and thus worthless even if a back door is found and maliciously pried open.

  • Publication number: 20120020527
Abstract: Systems and methods for acquiring accurate maps of near-shore depth and surface currents are disclosed. An imaging platform is provided which is able to obtain a time series of overhead images of an area of a body of water having pixel intensity correlated with wave height. The platform may be on a tower, or may be airborne, space-borne, or ship-borne. The imaging modality may be optical, radar, or LIDAR. Image processing corrects the images, as and if needed, such they are mapped onto a grid of fixed coordinates, and the pixel intensities have a near linear relationship to wave height. A two-dimensional Fourier transform of each image is obtained, then the extremum of an objective function is found, wherein the objective function is a function of the depth and surface current (velocity) vector at each pixel location, and the extremum is sharply peaked at a particular set of depth and a particular set of surface current vector values. A pixel-by-pixel map of depths and or currents can be produced.

  • Patent number: 8103831
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for using micro-op caches in processors are disclosed. A tag match for an instruction pointer retrieves a set of micro-op cache line access tuples having matching tags. The set is stored in a match queue. Line access tuples from the match queue are used to access cache lines in a micro-op cache data array to supply a micro-op queue. On a micro-op cache miss, a macroinstruction translation engine (MITE) decodes macroinstructions to supply the micro-op queue. Instruction pointers are stored in a miss queue for fetching macroinstructions from the MITE. The MITE may be disabled to conserve power when the miss queue is empty-likewise for the micro-op cache data array when the match queue is empty. Synchronization flags in the last micro-op from the micro-op cache on a subsequent micro-op cache miss indicate where micro-ops from the MITE merge with micro-ops from the micro-op cache.

  • Patent number: 8104081
Abstract: Described are a method and system for seamless roaming of a mobile node during a VPN session. A VPN session between the mobile node and a current VPN server in a network is established and synchronized with at least one fail-over VPN server in the network. An address change message is sent to the current VPN server and the fail-over VPN servers upon roaming of the mobile node. A fail-over VPN server responds with a reply message and is registered as a current VPN server for continuation of the VPN session. To load balance, a load query message is sent to the current VPN server and the fail-over VPN servers. Reply messages include server performance characteristics of the VPN servers. The VPN session can be transferred from the current VPN server to a fail-over VPN server in response to the server performance characteristics.

  • Patent number: 8102235
Abstract: Optimal operating techniques are disclosed for using coreless printed-circuit-board (PCB) transformers under (1) minimum input power conditions and (2) maximum energy efficiency conditions. The coreless PCB transformers should be operated at or near the ‘maximum impedance frequency’ (MIF) in order to reduce input power requirement. For maximum energy efficiency, the transformers should be at or near the “maximum efficiency frequency” (MEF) which is below the MIF. The operating principle has been confirmed by measurement and simulation. The proposed operating techniques can be applied to coreless PCB transformers in many circuits that have to meet stringent height requirements, for example to isolate the gates of power MOSFET and IGBT devices from the input power supply.

  • Publication number: 20120017136
Abstract: Method and system embodiments of the present invention are directed to encoding information in ways that are compatible with constraints associated with electrical-resistance-based memories and useful in other, similarly constrained applications, and to decoding the encoded information. One embodiment of the present invention encodes k information bits and writes the encoded k information bits to an electronic memory, the method comprising systematically encoding the k information bits to produce a vector codeword, with additional parity bits so that the codeword is resilient to bit-transition errors that may occur during storage of the codeword in, and retrieval of the codeword from, the electronic memory, ensuring that the codeword does not violate a weight constraint, and writing the codeword to the electronic memory.

  • Publication number: 20120016744
Abstract: Methods and systems that allow an Internet distribution partner of an advertisement listings provider to receive filtered and masked listings for display on the website of the Internet distribution partner. The Internet distribution partner defines filters to be applied to ranked advertising listings provided by an advertising listing provider. The advertisement listings provider system applies the filter to the listings in its database and identify matches and/or excludes matches depending on the characteristic specified. The advertisement listings provider may then send the Internet distribution partner advertisement listings based on the application of one or more filter selected by the distribution partner.
