  • Publication number: 20090221364
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for determining a position of each of a plurality of gaming chips on a gaming surface. Each of the plurality of gaming chips includes an inductively coupled RFID tag disposed therein. The gaming surface includes a first area and at least one second area disposed adjacent to the first area. The method includes transmitting a near-field inductively coupled interrogation signal to the plurality of gaming chips. A near-field inductively coupled response signal is received from at least a portion of the plurality of gaming chips. A position resolution action is performed in conjunction with either the step of transmitting or the step of receiving. Each of the plurality of gaming chips are associated with either the first area or the at least one second area in accordance with the step of performing a position resolution action.

  • Patent number: 7584159
Abstract: Strategies are described for generating recommendations. The strategies generate a set of original recommendations based on a source of information. The strategies then transform the set of original recommendations into a set of similarity-spaced recommendations based on “repulsion force” analysis applied to the set of original recommendations. In a first implementation, the set of spaced recommendations represent a diverse sampling of items in the set of original recommendations. In a second implementation, the set of spaced recommendations represent a sampling of items in the set of original recommendations which omits or excludes recommendations assessed as obvious. A third implementation can combine the first and second implementations.

  • Publication number: 20090212407
Abstract: An infinitely stackable interconnect device and method having the capability for electrical, thermal, optical, and fluidic interconnections to various layers. Through-substrate vias in the interconnect device are filled to enable electrical and thermal connection or optionally hermetically sealed relative to other surfaces to enable fluidic or optical connection. Optionally, optical components may be placed within the via region in order to manipulate optical signals. Redistribution of electrical interconnection is accomplished on both top and bottom surfaces of the substrate of the interconnect chip.

  • Publication number: 20090216297
Abstract: This document discusses, among other things, a communication circuit for an IMD comprising a radio frequency (RF) modulator to modulate and demodulate IMD data signals, first and second serial buffer registers to store received demodulated data and to store transmit data for modulation and configured to operate according to a first clock signal, and a parallel buffer register to receive data in parallel from the first and second serial buffer registers and configured to operate according to a second clock signal that is slower than the first clock signal. The communication circuit also includes a telemetry control circuit configured to, when in the receive mode, alternate between serially receiving data into the first serial buffer register while the parallel buffer receives data from the second serial buffer register, and serially receiving data into the second serial buffer register while the parallel buffer receives data from the first serial buffer.

  • Publication number: 20090213728
Abstract: Apparatus and method for packet redundancy and recovery are disclosed. In a transmitter, parity packets are generated by executing exclusive OR between the corresponding data packets, and are transmitted along with the data packets to a receiver. In the receiver, lost data packets are found out and are recovered by executing exclusive OR between the corresponding data packets and the corresponding parity packets. This invention enhances the reliability of streaming data transmission using loss-recovery packets. Data packets are grouped and transmitted with redundant packets to allow the receiver to recover a lost packet within the group. This will minimize the need and therefore the time and delay to request a retransmission of the damaged or lost packets.

  • Patent number: 7580996
Abstract: A method for updating operational parameters of a monitoring agent on a client in a distributed data processing system is presented. The monitoring agent filters the outgoing network data traffic from the client to a server and determines whether an outgoing transaction is addressed such that an application on the server receives the outgoing transaction as a request to change the operational parameters of the monitoring agent. The outgoing transaction is parsed for a destination address and matched with a destination address stored as an operational parameter of the monitoring agent on the client. The destination address may be a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) embedded within a Hypertext Transport Protocol (HTTP) request. In response to a positive determination, the monitoring agent then sends a request to the server to send to the monitoring agent an update of the operational parameters of the monitoring agent.
