  • Patent number: 5447397
Abstract: An apparatus for fixing an annular cutter to an arbor comprises an arbor and a rotation transmitting member coaxially fixed to the arbor. Inclined grooves which receives locking pins extend from the inner peripheral surface to the outer peripheral surface of the rotation transmitting member toward the arbor. A guide ring is axially slidably mounted on the rotation transmitting member and has pressing faces and restricting grooves defined by the pressing faces. Each restricting groove has a dimension which can receive the respective locking pin. A holding mechanism is provided for holding the guide ring in a normal state in which the pressing faces press the locking pins inward along the inclined grooves. The holding mechanism can moved toward the arbor together with the guide ring so as to allow the locking pins to enter the restricting grooves. An annular cutter has a cutter body and a shank connected to the cutter body and inserted into said rotation transmitting member.

  • Patent number: 5429457
Abstract: An annular cutter connecting apparatus includes an arbor, annular cutter fixing locking members received in holding holes formed in the lower end portion of the arbor and a sleeve member surrounding the lower end portion of the arbor, for fixing an annular cutter to the arbor. The sleeve has a first control face having an inner diameter equal to the outer diameter of the lower end portion of the arbor, for projecting the locking members into the central bore by a predetermined length when the first control face engages the locking members, and second control faces formed circumferentially in the first control face, for receiving the locking members. The sleeve is rotatable around its own axis so as to cause the locking members to selectively face the first control face and the second control faces, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5087157
Abstract: The states of contact switches are switched when a mode switch is turned on. If the drilling operation is effected by means of a drill motor in this state, an oscillation signal which is repeatedly set to "H" and "L" in a preset period corresponding to an output of an oscillator is supplied to the control terminal of a firing pulse generator. The firing pulse generator interrupts supply of the control signal to the control terminal of a triac in the above preset period based on the oscillation signal supplied to the control terminal thereof to interrupt supply of an AC power source from a commercial AC power source to a bridge-type rectifier so as to intermittently drive a feed motor which is energized by an output of the rectifier in the above preset period. As a result, the drill motor can be intermittently fed towards a to-be-worked object by means of the feed motor, and, when the feeding operation is interrupted, a cutting operation can be instantaneously stopped and swarf can be cut apart.

  • Patent number: 5035549
Abstract: A boring apparatus wherein the size in the axial direction of the shaft of the manual handle horizontally supported can be made small-sized. A clutch is composed of spherical bodies, a cylindrical body having formed therein hole portions for receiving the spherical bodies, spherical body pressing means for pressing the spherical bodies to the outside or inside of the cylindrical body, and an engagement member having recessed portions engaging with the spherical bodies which are projected to the outside or inside of the cylindrical body, and the boring apparatus is constructed by using the clutch.

  • Patent number: 4854787
Abstract: A boring device has a spindle moving mechanism which retards a tool spindle when the spindle rotates through a predetermined angle. The mechanism has coaxial first and second thrust rings. Thrust balls are disposed between the thrust rings in rolling contact therewith. A retaining element holds the thrust balls such that they keep constant circumferential spaces therebetween. The first thrust ring is fixed to the tool spindle and has recesses in the surface facing the second thrust ring. The second thrust ring is fixed to the casing of the boring device. As the first thrust ring is rotated by the tool spindle, the thrust balls are fitted in the respective recesses, whereby the tool retards by the amount equal to the depth of the recesses. Then, cutting edges of a cutter is separated from the face of a workpiece which is being cut, and a continuous chip is broken into pieces having a predetermined length and is removed from a hole being formed.

  • Patent number: 4824299
Abstract: A chip breaking device for annular cutters has a comb-shaped member fixed to the front wall of a boring machine. The comb-shaped member includes a stem extending in parallel with the annular cutter rotated by the boring machine and three or more elongated chip breaking elements extending perpendicularly from the stem and into proximity to the outer periphery of the annular cutter. Chips formed by the annular cutter hit against the chip breaking elements and their tip portions are caught by the elements. Then, intermediate portions pass through the spacings between the adjacent chip breaking elements. Thereafter the chips are pulled and broken into pieces.
