Abstract: The present invention relates to a recoding apparatus and a recording method, a playback apparatus and a playback method, a recording/playback apparatus and a recording/playback method, and a program, whereby processing relating to a file can be readily performed. With a video camera wherein with regard to H.264/AVC for example, which is a coding method arranged to encode or decode data, a codec class arranged to classify the performance of a codec configured to encode or decode data, and a codec level serving as a group of said one or more codec classes whose upper compatibility is ensured, are based on stipulated specifications, data is encoded into, for example, coded data of a codec class #2, for example, within a codec level AVC_A by H.264/AVC. The coded data is recorded in a recording medium, for example, as a file “AVCA0001.MP4” whose file name represents the codec level AVC_A of the coded data.

  • Publication number: 20080247600
Abstract: An imaging device detects a face of a subject from an image in response to inputting of the image containing the subject, and generates face data related to the face. The imaging device generates face data management information managing the face data and controls recording of the input image, the generated face data and the face data management information on a recording unit with the input image mapped to the face data and the face data management information. The face data contains a plurality information components recorded in a predetermined recording order. The face data management information, in a data structure responsive to the recording order of the information components of the face data, contains a train of consecutively assigned bits. The information components are assigned predetermined flags in the recording order. Each flag represents the presence or absence of the information component corresponding to the flag in the face data.

  • Publication number: 20080235275
Abstract: The present invention makes it possible to search desired images more quickly and surely. A keyword searching part 121 searches keywords set to image data from a recording medium on the basis of a keyword. An imaging information searching part 122 searches imaging information set to image data from the recording medium on the basis of imaging information. On the basis of a keyword or imaging information searched by the keyword searching part 121 or the imaging information searching part 122, a similar information-set image searching section 114 searches similar image data as image data having a high correlation to the searched keyword or imaging information. A keyword extracting section 115 extracts keywords from the similar image data. A keyword setting section 116 sets the extracted keywords to image data searched by the keyword searching part 121 or the imaging information searching part 122. Thus, desired images can be searched more quickly and surely.

  • Publication number: 20070206831
Abstract: Information created by a device and recorded on a recording medium and information supplied externally to the device and recorded on the recording medium are classified according to creation date and time information. Each image data file recorded on the recording medium has an original recorded file flag added thereto which indicates whether the image data file is obtained by photographing using the device. Photographing date and time information is added to an image data file obtained by photographing using the device. Obtainment date and time information is added to an image data file supplied externally. In a classification process, an original recorded file flag is checked; an obtainment date and time is used for an image data file obtained externally; a photographing date and time is used for an image data file obtained by photographing; a classification process is performed; and a result of the classification process is displayed.

  • Publication number: 20070035639
Abstract: Time varying images 712 before coded are rearranged in a coding stage into unitary images 722 having the sequence of time stamps DTS 725. A GPS or the like provides position information indicative of the position whereat the respective unitary image of a motion image has been captured. The unitary image and the position information are correlated to one another by setting common time stamps PTS (724 and 723) thereon. When decoding each of blocks of coded and multiplexed data 731 to 735, the position information corresponding to the unitary image is specified. Thereby, the unitary image of the coded motion image and the corresponding position information are correlated to one another, whereby a trajectory of the motion image can be displayed on a map in accordance with the position information.

  • Publication number: 20060165380
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a picture display controlling apparatus capable of improving the user's ease of operation upon selecting picture data on a small-size screen of digital cameras or the like. Picture data items held in a data holding unit (310) are sorted into picture groups. The location of the picture data item most recently displayed from any of the picture groups is held as a picture resume pointer in a resume pointer holding unit (320). With an operation input accepted from the user by an operation inputting device (340), a display controlling unit (390) causes a displaying unit (350) to display the picture designated by the operation input while effecting transition from the current display status retained in a status holding unit (330).

  • Publication number: 20060140587
Abstract: A top menu is configured to provide information about chapters contained in a recording medium when it is finalized. From an optical disk as a recording medium, a title retrieval section 310 reads title information about each title of motion picture data recorded on the optical disk. A chapter retrieval section 320 reads chapter information about each chapter in the corresponding title based on the title information obtained in this manner. Based on the chapter information obtained in this manner, a representative picture selection section 340 selects a representative picture in each chapter. A menu generation section 350 generates the top menu including a display area to reproduce chapters based on the chapter information obtained by the chapter retrieval section 320.

  • Publication number: 20060112413
Abstract: The present invention relates to an image processing system, a device and a method for image pickup, a recording medium, and a program that make it possible to transfer a large amount of image data to another apparatus efficiently. A digital camera 1 transfers image data to a server 5 after transferring thumbnail image data yet to be transferred to the server 5. When new thumbnail image data is generated during the transfer of the image data, the transfer of the image data is stopped, and the new thumbnail image data is transferred first. Obtaining the thumbnail image data, the server 5 displays the thumbnail images on a display, receives a request for the transfer of image data from a user, and then supplies the request to the digital camera 1. The digital camera 1 transfers the image data to the server 5 on the basis of the request. The present invention is applicable to digital still cameras.

  • Publication number: 20050146608
Abstract: An imaging apparatus and an imaging method supply an optimum amount of image data to another apparatus. When a PDA has a maximum transfer rate of 1.5 Mbps, a mobile phone determines that the maximum speed of communication with the PDA is low, reduces the amount of moving image data captured by a CCD of the mobile phone accordingly, and supplies the captured moving image data to the PDA. The PDA therefore displays a low-quality moving image on its display unit. When the PDA has a maximum transfer rate of 480 Mbps, the CPU of the mobile phone leaves unchanged the amount of moving picture data captured by the CCD and supplies the captured moving image data to the PDA. The PDA then displays a high-quality moving image on its display unit. The foregoing may be advantageously applied to digital cameras.

  • Publication number: 20050044489
Abstract: An image detecting apparatus has an edit function with good operability and compatibility. When a chapter mark key on a remote control is pressed while an image reproducing system including an MPEG video decoder, a video signal post-processing circuit, a combining circuit, and an NTSC encoder is reproducing image data recorded on a recording medium, a CPU obtains information for identifying the image being reproduced and displayed, and then records the information on the recording medium. With reference to the image provided with a chapter mark, a still image generating circuit displays reduced still images, for example, so that a target image can be specified. Reproduction and editing can be performed with reference to the specified image.
