Abstract: The present invention relates to an information processing apparatus, an information processing method, a recording medium, and a program for furnishing discs with different additional information specific to a given device for disc management purposes. An information control unit 351 references a disc management table in a data management memory 328A to verify whether or not a disc ID of a disc 1 acquired from a current disc information management unit 353 has already been recorded. If the result of the verification reveals that the disc has never been loaded, the information control unit 351 adds disc information about the disc 1 to the disc management table. A user may furnish the disc 1 with such additional information as a local disc ID and a local disc name specific to the user's device. The information control unit 351 enters the additional information into the disc management table in association with the disc ID. This invention can be applied advantageously to personal computers.

Abstract: An information recording apparatus is disclosed which comprises: a first recording element for recording input picture information in units of recording into a first area of a recording medium; a representative data generating element for generating representative data representing the picture information recorded in the units of recording; a first memory for recording a plurality of symbolic pictures; a second memory for recording a program for generating link information linking the plurality of symbolic pictures recorded in the first memory with the representative data; a link information generating element for generating the link information using program; a picture generating element which, based on the link information, generates picture information including at least the symbolic pictures and the representative data being linked with one another; and a second recording element for recording the picture information generated by the picture generating element to a second area of the recording medium.

Abstract: A vibrating cutting tool capable of making uniform micro-vibrations at the cutter edge generated during machining. The vibrations at the cutter edge are transmitted to balls biassed by springs, compressing the springs. The vibrations are transmitted from the balls through the output shaft back to the cutter edge. While the cutting force is small, the amplitude of vibration of balls is relatively large. When it increases, the holder acts on the balls more than the spring does so that vibration is suppressed. As a result, the amplitude of vibration becomes uniform.
