  • Patent number: 6897482
Abstract: A transistor has a source electrode and a drain electrode formed with a predetermined interval secured in between on a semiconductor layer formed to perspectively overlap a gate electrode. The source and drain electrodes are each longer in their lengthwise direction than in their widthwise direction. The source electrode has a recessed portion formed therein to allow the tip portion of the drain electrode in. The semiconductor layer protrudes out of the gate electrode to form a portion that does not overlap the gate electrode but overlaps the source electrode and a portion that does not overlap the gate electrode but overlaps the drain electrode. Thus, the protruding portion that overlaps the source electrode and the protruding portion that overlaps the drain electrode are separated from each other by the gate electrode so as to be independent of each other.

  • Patent number: 6879022
Abstract: According to a first aspect of the present invention, a plurality of PN junctions are formed at the surface of a semiconductor substrate under a belt-like conductive film having a spiral shape which constitutes an inductance device. An inverted bias voltage is applied to the PN junctions, and the surface of the substrate is completely depleted. Since the inverted bias voltage is applied to the PN junctions, even though the impurity density of the surface of the substrate is high and the adjacent PN junctions are separated to a degree, the extension of the depletion layers can be increased and complete depletion of the surface of the substrate can be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20050051817
Abstract: A display device includes a plurality of light emitting elements arranged in a matrix. A scan signal is made to flow into a gate signal line and a data signal is made to flow into a source signal line so that the data signal is applied to a source electrode and the scan signal is supplied to a gate electrode of a control TFT arranged at a portion where the both signal lines intersect when viewed from above. Thus, when the control TFT is turned ON, a drive TFT having a gate electrode connected to the drain electrode is turned ON, so that current is supplied from a power supply line via the source electrode and the drain electrode of the drive TFT to an organic EL element and the organic EL element emits light. A holding capacity is present between the control TFT and the drive TFT. Even when the scan signal becomes LOW level and the control TFT turns OFF, the gate potential of the drive TFT is held for a predetermined period of time by the holding capacity and the organic EL element continues to emit light.

  • Patent number: 6845450
Abstract: Keys (e.g., decryption key, authentication key) are stored in a non-volatile memory of a display unit. The keys are retrieved in encrypted form into an integrated circuit. The integrated circuit decrypts the keys and uses the keys. As the keys are available in decrypted form only within the integrated circuit and potentially only during use, the keys may not be available to unauthorized third parties.
