Patent number: 5519866Abstract: A human oriented object programming system provides an interactive and dynamic process for the incremental building of computer programs which facilitates the development of complex computer programs such as operating systems and large applications with graphic user interfaces (GUIs). The program is modeled as a collection of units called components. A component represents a single compilable language element such as a class or a function. The major functionalities are the database, the compiler, build and link mechanism. The database stores the components and properties. The compiler, along with compiling the source code of a property, and generating object code is responsible for calculating the dependencies associated with a component. The build mechanism uses properties of components along with the compiler generated dependencies to correctly and efficiently sequence the compilation of components during a build process.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1993Date of Patent: May 21, 1996Assignee: Taligent, Inc.Inventors: Roger P. Patent number: 5477800Abstract: A device to secure a boat to a dock with a rope in a conventional manner, using two horizontally protruding horns (14) extending in opposite directions and two smooth curved surfaces (12) below each of the horns to guide the rope. Another protruding horn with a smooth guiding surface below it faces each of the other two horns and guiding surfaces, which allows a person to guide the rope from either direction without removing the rope from the device and moving it to the other end as is required with a conventional cleat. Two sloping surfaces (13) on the ends of the device are parallel to the direction a person would normally be walking on a dock and are designed to deflect a moving foot away from the protruding horns of the device, reducing the liklihood of injury caused by striking the device.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1994Date of Patent: December 26, 1995Inventor: Alan P. Patent number: 5477801Abstract: A device used in conjuction with a standard dock cleat (20) which provides protection from the horizontally protruding horns of the dock cleat and also provides an additional surface for guiding a rope or docking line. The protection is provided by a smooth sloping surface (13) aligned in front of and parrallel to the protruding horn so that a person's foot moving towards the end of the horn is deflected away. The additional guiding surface (12) is positioned opposite the dock cleat's guiding surface so that a person can guide the boat from either direction without removing the rope. On a typical dock cleat, if the boat moves past the cleat it is neccessary to remove the line from the cleat and place it back on the cleat at the other end. Normal installation would require two safety adaptors for each dock cleat, placed on opposite sides of the cleat to provide protection from each horn.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1994Date of Patent: December 26, 1995Inventor: Alan P. Lawrence

Patent number: 4694935Abstract: The invention discloses an automated hydraulic valve, for use in an elevator propulsion system. The elevator includes a car which is powered by a piston which moves within a cylinder. The automated valve controls the flow of hydraulic fluid into and out of the cylinder. The valve insures that the acceleration and deceleration of the elevator car will be uniform, and that the acceleration or deceleration will occur over a constant, predetermined interval, regardless of the load in the car. The control valve allows fluid to flow from a reservoir, and into the cylinder or back to the reservoir, with varying rates of flow. When fluid is directed into the cylinder, the elevator ascends. When fluid is allowed out of the cylinder, the elevator descends. The operation of the control valve is governed by a bypass piston assembly which is moved in response to the sensed pressure in the cylinder and the pressure in the valve.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1986Date of Patent: September 22, 1987Assignee: Cemco, Inc.Inventor: William A. Patent number: 4194534Abstract: When a Hydraulically operated valve is used to control the operation of a hydraulic elevator, it is required to do so in a manner such that as the elevator cab approaches a floor level in either direction, it is first decelerated through a transition cycle and after that moved slowly a short distance through a creeping cycle to the floor level where it stops. In the up direction, an extra heavy load cuts the transistion time and adds objectionably to the time needed for up leveling. The compensating valve of the invention is interposed in the hydraulic line of the operating valve which normally is depended on to cause deceleration for transition, replacing the deceleration valve. A plunger in the compensating valve is shifted by an increase in hydraulic pressure resulting from an extra heavy load.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 1978Date of Patent: March 25, 1980Assignee: Elevator Equipment Co.Inventors: William A. P. Lawrence, Robert J. Welchel
