Assignee: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
    Inventor: John P. Lawrence
  • Patent number: 4066697
Abstract: Tetramethylthiuram tetrasulfide can be prepared in high yields by oxidation of an aqueous solution of dimethylammonium dimethyldithiocarbamate in the presence of carbon disulfide and sulfur. The process is essentially pollution free.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 28, 1976
Date of Patent: January 3, 1978
Assignee: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
    Inventor: John P. Lawrence
  • Patent number: 4042642
Abstract: Ureas such as 1,3-bis(morpholinothio)-imidazolidinone are used to affect the vulcanization characteristics of sulfur vulcanizable polymers by increasing the state of vulcanization and improving scorch resistance and/or increasing the rate of vulcanization.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 26, 1976
Date of Patent: August 16, 1977
Assignee: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company

  • Patent number: 4042641
Abstract: Premature vulcanization of rubbers is inhibited by the incorporation therein of a dithioformimidate compound such as methyl N-phenyl-1-(methyldithio)-formimidate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 12, 1976
Date of Patent: August 16, 1977
Assignee: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
    Inventor: John P. Lawrence
  • Patent number: 4033060
Abstract: A low cost picture frame construction particularly adapted for displaying photographic prints and the like of standard sizes upon a wall or other vertical surface in such manner that the print is spaced a substantial distance from said surface to provide an impression of substantial depth. The frame includes three elements, an outwardmost element being of lightweight paper coated with a synthetic resinous material, a second element and a third element being formed of heavyweight paper. The second element includes foldable flaps or tabs which serve a joint function of retaining the device in assembled condition and spacing said first element from said wall.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 8, 1976
Date of Patent: July 5, 1977
    Inventor: Simone P. Lawrence
  • Patent number: 4017489
Abstract: An N-(aminothio)-phthalimide such as N-(morpholinothio)-phthalimide is reacted with a compound having the structure RSH or a metallic salt thereof, for example, benzene thiol, to produce a compound having the structure RSSNR.sup.1 R.sup.2, such as N-(phenyldithio)-morpholine. Compounds prepared according to this process are either accelerators or retarders.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 10, 1975
Date of Patent: April 12, 1977
Assignee: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
    Inventor: John P. Lawrence
  • Patent number: 4011888
Abstract: A hydraulic valve assembly for operating a hydraulic elevator is simplified in its construction by positioning the check valve for the up level control in axial alignment with the bypass valve in the same valve housing mutually guided on a central valve stem. Pressure for actuating the bypass valve is controlled by a direct acting valve element structurally mounted on the valve element of the up leveling check valve.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 12, 1976
