  • Patent number: 9844353
Abstract: For position sensors, e.g., a fiber-based system, that build a shape of an elongated member, such as a catheter, using a sequence of small orientation measurements, a small error in orientation at the proximal end of the sensor will cause large error in position at distal points on the fiber. Exemplary methods and systems are disclosed, which may provide full or partial registration along the length of the sensor to reduce the influence of the measurement error. Additional examples are directed to applying selective filtering at a proximal end of the elongated member to provide a more stable base for distal measurements and thereby reducing the influence of measurement errors.

  • Patent number: 9685989
Abstract: Electronically scanned array antenna radiating elements include a phase comparator. The phase comparator connects the transmission circuitry to the receiving circuitry via a shunt switch to compare the intended phase with the actual phase. The phase of a signal received via the shunt switch is sensitive to the performance of power amplifiers in the transmission circuitry, transmitter/receiver switch, and load impedance. Distributed attenuators between the shunt switch and a phase comparator reduce crosstalk. Phase comparison circuitry is useful for detecting faults in the ESA radiating element.

  • Patent number: 9647788
Abstract: Techniques for multiplexing and demultiplexing signals for optical transport networks are presented. A network component comprises a multiplexer component that multiplexes a plurality of signals having a first signal format to produce a multiplexed signal in accordance with a second signal format, while maintaining error correction code (ECC) of such signals and without decoding such signals and associated ECC. The multiplexer component interleaves the plurality of signals with stuffing and adds overhead without generating new ECC. A second network component receives the multiplexed signal as part of a frame in accordance with the second signal format. A demultiplexer component of the second network component demultiplexes the multiplexed signal using the original ECC associated with the plurality of signals, wherein the second network element removes and filters the stuffing from the multiplexed signal and produces a plurality of demultiplexed signals as an output, in accordance with the first signal format.

  • Patent number: 9613115
Abstract: A program generation system is described that generates a program based on a plurality of input-output examples. The input-output examples include input items and corresponding output items. The program generation system can include three component modules. A parsing module processes the input items and output items to provide a plurality of input parts and output parts, respectively. A transformation module determines, for each output part, whether the output part can be produced from a corresponding input part using one or more converter modules selected from a collection of candidate converter modules. A formatting module generates formatting instructions that transform selected output parts into a form specified by the output items. These three modules provide a generated program that embodies logic learned from the input-output examples; the generated program can be subsequently used to transform new input items into new respective output items.
