  • Publication number: 20130155130
Abstract: A particle removal device for an ink jet printer is discussed. The particle removal device includes a first separator comprising an arrangement of obstacles including at least two rows of obstacles that extend laterally with respect to a flow path of ink in the first separator. The rows of obstacles are offset from one another by a row offset fraction. The arrangement of obstacles is configured to preferentially route larger particles having diameters greater than a critical diameter through the arrangement and along a first trajectory vector that is angled with respect to the direction of the flow path of the ink. The angle of the first trajectory vector with respect to the ink flow path is a function of the row offset fraction. Smaller particles having diameters less than the critical diameter travel through the arrangement along a second trajectory vector that is not substantially angled with respect to the flow path of the ink.

  • Publication number: 20130143143
Abstract: A printed fuel cell having integrated gas channels, and having an anode layer, where a first gas diffusion electrode layer is periodically fixed to the anode layer, wherein the periodically fixed first gas diffusion electrode layer defines hydrogen flow field channels. A first catalyst material is coated or infused to the first gas diffusion electrode layer. An electrolyte membrane covers portions of the anode layer and first gas diffusion electrode layer with the first catalyst material. A second catalyst material is coated or infused to the electrolyte membrane. A second gas diffusion electrode layer is in operative association with the electrolyte membrane and second catalyst material, on a surface of the electrolyte membrane different from a surface of the electrolyte membrane which is in contact with the first gas diffusion electrode layer, and a perforated cathode is in contact with the second gas diffusion electrode layer.

  • Publication number: 20130114890
Abstract: Methods and systems of the present embodiment provide segmenting of connected components of markings found in document images. Segmenting includes detecting aligned text. From this detected material an aligned text mask is generated and used in processing of the images. The processing includes breaking connected components in the document images into smaller pieces or fragments by detecting and segregating the connected components and fragments thereof likely to belong to aligned text.

  • Publication number: 20130111341
Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for flexibly taking actions upon activation of rule-based triggers are provided. A collection of documents is stored in a storage device within a computing environment. An activity of a user performed on a document from the collection is observed. At least one of an application, operation, key word, time, place, project, topic, different document from the collection, and different user is identified. A connection associated with the user is determined to at least one of the application, operation, key word, time, place, project, topic, different document from the collection, and different user based on the observed activity. A rule based on the connection and the observed activity is defined. The rule and a corresponding action are stored as a trigger. Rule satisfaction by at least one of a further activity, event, and stimuli activates the trigger, which causes performance of the corresponding action.

  • Publication number: 20130090823
Abstract: Methods and systems for assessing the effect of road curvature on the travel time and the comfort level of a path determined by a ground based route planning system. The methods and systems identify a path and determine an allowable speed profile of the path, wherein the allowable speed profile satisfies a cross track acceleration constraint. Thereafter, the methods and systems determine an optimal speed profile of the path, wherein the optimal speed profile satisfies both an along track acceleration constraint and a speed constraint. Using the optimal speed profile, the road curvature of a path may be factored into a determination of the traversal time of the path. Additionally, using the optimal speed profile, the road curvature of a path may be used to derive a comfort level of the path. The optimal speed profile may be further used to provide driver assistance.

  • Publication number: 20130085352
Abstract: An implantable product such as an article, device, or system can include analyte and non-analyte containers in parts that can be operated as optical cavities. The product can also include fluidic components such as filter assemblies that control transfer of objects that affect or shift spectrum features or characteristics such as by shifting transmission mode peaks or reflection mode valleys, shifting phase, reducing maxima or contrast, or increasing intermediate intensity width such as full width half maximum (FWHM). Analyte, e.g. glucose molecules, can be predominantly included in a set of objects that transfer more rapidly into the analyte container than other objects, and can have a negligible or zero rate of transfer into the non-analyte container; objects that transfer more rapidly into the non-analyte container can include objects smaller than the analyte or molecules of a set of selected types, including, e.g., sodium chloride.

  • Publication number: 20130067384
Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for managing a context-sensitive sidebar window is provided. Contextual information relevant to an electronic document is determined. A portion of the determined contextual information is presented in a sidebar window. A display of the context-sensitive sidebar window is managed by automatically opening the context-sensitive sidebar window when the electronic document is opened and automatically closing the context-sensitive sidebar window when the document is closed.

  • Publication number: 20130054589
Abstract: A system and method for identifying semantically relevant documents is provided. An index having semantic index key terms from one or more documents is maintained. A query is obtained and semantic key terms of the query are identified. Each of the query key terms are associated with information, including use of the word and a grammatical role of the word. Each of the query key terms and variants of the query key terms is looked up in the index based on the information. One or more of the documents in the index are identified as possible relevant candidates based on the look up. A potential match candidate set is generated by filtering the possible relevant candidates. At least one of the documents that match the query is identified by comparing a semantic representation for each non-filtered potential match candidate in the set with a semantic representation for the query.
