  • Publication number: 20180349884
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention facilitate payment transactions by integrating the image capture and image processing capabilities of certain mobile devices with the card-based payment transaction infrastructure. In some embodiments, a camera contained in a mobile device is used to capture an image of a barcode that is visible on the surface of a substrate. The barcode may represent or otherwise encode one or more of payment account data, consumer authentication data, consumer profile data, or other relevant information. In some embodiments, the captured image may be processed by the mobile device to extract the payment account data, authentication data, or other relevant data. This data may then be communicated to a data processing element that is connected to, or forms part of, a payment processing network in order to conduct the desired payment transaction.

  • Patent number: 10085070
Abstract: A system, method, apparatus, and article of manufacture provide the ability to configuring out-of-home streaming between a mobile device and a set top box (STB). Internet connectivity establishment (ICE) agents, installed on the mobile device and the STB, determine telemetry information via communication with network address translator (NAT) servers. Communication agents, installed on the mobile device and the STB, translate the telemetry information into a format acceptable to a communication server. The communication server exchanges the telemetry information between the mobile device and the STB and maintains a persistent connection with the STB. The communication agents connect the mobile device to the same communication server that the STB is persistently connected to. Media content is streamed directly from the STB to the mobile device if a direct connection between the STB and mobile device is established and via the NAT servers if a direct connection cannot be established.

  • Patent number: 9921790
Abstract: A combination of physical and logical components of an apparatus to establish a persistent connection over a network with a source that is provided with or part of a job service. The components extract a job instruction embodied in a first communication that is received from the source over the persistent connection, without the apparatus having provided a request for the first communication. Based on the job instruction, the components send a request to the job service for job data when the job service is able to process job data for a corresponding job, without the apparatus polling the job service or waiting for the job service to receive the corresponding job.

  • Publication number: 20170280300
Abstract: A system and method for controlling a mobile device at a headend includes the mobile device communicating a request for content to the headend. The headend requests geographic coordinate location data from the mobile device and, when geographic coordinate data is available, determines a first geographic region associated with the mobile device in response to the geographic coordinate location data. When geographic coordinate data is not available from the mobile device, the headend extracts an IP address from the request and determines a second geographic region based on the IP address and a confidence level. When the confidence level is below a threshold, the headend determines a third geographic region based on subscriber data for the mobile device. The headend controls the mobile device in response to one of the first geographic region, the second geographic region and the third geographic region.

  • Publication number: 20170236241
Abstract: Techniques to sort events of a graphics workload executed by a graphics processing unit to provide identification of events, that if addressed, may result in an improvement in performance are disclosed. The techniques can include: generating a signature and a weight for each event of a graphics workload; generating an event priority tree by organizing the events into parent and leaf nodes, where parent nodes comprise leaf nodes having a shared hash; and sorting frames based on a global weight of events corresponding to the frames.

  • Publication number: 20170208528
Abstract: There is provided an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system including a plurality of gate-ways interconnected by a network comprising a plurality of subnets based on one or more types of networking protocols, each of the plurality of gateways communicatively coupled to or integrated in a metering device; and a concentrator connected to the network for receiving metering data from the metering devices. The concentrator and the plurality of gateways each defines a communication node in the network. In particular, each of the gateways is configured to store a route information comprising at least a primary route information and is operable to route uplink data received based on the route information, the primary route information indicating a predetermined one of the communication nodes for the gateway to route the uplink data to next as a first priority.
