    Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for distributing a service rule that is to be enforced across a first set of sites and that is defined by reference to a group identifier that identifies a group of machines. The method distributes the service rule to each site in the first set of sites. The method identifies at least one site in the first set of sites that is not in a second set of sites that has already received a definition of the group. The method distributes the group definition to each identified site in the first set of sites that has not already received the definition of the group.

    Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for providing a user interface (UI) for a network management application. The method provides a first UI for accessing a global network manager through the network management application to configure a global logical network spanning multiple physical sites. For each respective site, the method provides an additional UI for accessing a respective local network manager for the site (i) to modify the global logical network at the respective site and (ii) to configure a local logical network at the respective site. The method provides a UI item for toggling between the first UI and the additional UIs. Multiple UI items available in the first UI are also available in the additional UIs.

    Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for configuring a DCN migrated from a first host computer at a first site of multiple sites spanned by a logical network to a second host computer at a second site. At the second host, the method receives, from the first host, data for configuring the DCN and implementing the logical network on the second site. The data includes (i) data particular to the first site and (ii) a global identifier for a logical port to which the DCN attaches. The method provides the global identifier to a local logical network manager, which uses the global identifier to retrieve data regarding the logical port from a global network manager that manages the logical network across the sites. Based on data retrieved from the global network manager, the method modifies the data particular to the first site into data particular to the second site.

    Abstract: For a managed network including multiple host machines implementing multiple logical networks, some embodiments provide a method that reduces the memory and traffic load required to implement the multiple logical networks. The method generates configuration data for each of multiple host machines including (i) data to configure a host machine to implement a set of logical forwarding elements that belong to a set of routing domains and (ii) identifiers for each routing domain in the set of routing domains. The method then receives data regarding tunnels endpoints operating on each of the host machines and an association with the routing identifiers sent to the host machines. The method then generates a routing domain tunnel endpoint list for each routing domain based on the data received from each of the host machines including a list of the tunnel endpoints associated with the routing domain which the host machines can use to facilitate packet processing.

    Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for a network controller that manages multiple managed forwarding elements (MFEs) that implement multiple logical networks. The method stores (i) a first data structure including an entry for each logical entity in a desired state of the multiple logical networks and (ii) a second data structure including an entry for each logical entity referred to by an update for at least one MFE. Upon receiving updates specifying modifications to the logical entities, the method adds separate updates to separate queues for the MFEs that require the update. The separate updates reference the logical entity entries in the second data structure. When the second data structure reaches a threshold size in comparison to the first data structure, the method compacts the updates in at least one of the queues so that each queue has no more than one update referencing a particular logical entity entry.

    Abstract: A network system that includes a first set of network hosts in a first domain and a second set of network hosts in a second domain. Within each of the domains, the system includes several edge switching elements (SEs) that each couple to the network hosts and forward network data to and from the set of network hosts. Within the first domain, the system includes (i) an interior SE that couples to a particular edge SE in order to receive network data for forwarding from the edge SE when the edge SE does not recognize a destination location of the network data and (ii) an interconnection SE that couples to the interior SE, the edge SE, and the second domain through an external network. When the edge SE receives network data with a destination address in the second domain, it forwards the network data directly to the interconnection SE.

In one example, a networking controller service may obtain hashes that correspond to a hash tree generated from software defined networking configuration data received by a computing element. The networking controller service may further compare the hashes to expected hashes for the computing element and determine that at least a portion of the software defined networking configuration data on the computing element requires an update based on the comparison.
