    Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for a network controller. The method identifies a host machine at which the logical network entity is implemented.     Abstract: Certain embodiments described herein are generally directed to determining the spans of logical entities in a logical network using a graph theoretic method. For example, in some embodiments, a configuration of the logical network is represented as a directed graph with labeled edges. The span of any logical entity in the logical network may then be computed based on the directed graph of the logical network. For example, for a given entity represented by a given node, the set of nodes that can be reached from the given node via span-depends-on edges only may be computed and referred to as the span base of the given node. Further, the set of all managed forwarding elements reachable from each node of the span base of the given node via contains edges only is the span for the given entity.

    Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for a managed forwarding element (MFE). At the MFE, the method receives a first packet from a particular tunnel endpoint. The first packet originates from a particular data compute node associated with multiple tunnel endpoints including the particular tunnel endpoint. Based on the first packet, the method stores an association of the particular tunnel endpoint with the particular data compute node. The method uses the stored association to encapsulate subsequent packets received at the MFE and having the particular data compute node as a destination address with the particular tunnel endpoint as a destination tunnel endpoint.

The method forwards the packet to a managed switching element of the several managed switching elements based on the logical output port in the set of context tag values stored in the packet.

At the integrated system, the method receives a proposed modification to configuration data for a logical network stored by the integrated system as a set of rules. The method provides a graphical user interface (GUI) that indicates logical network entities affected by the proposed modification. In response to a command to implement the proposed modification, the method generates an updated set of rules at the integrated system and stores the updated set of rules for distribution to managed forwarding elements that implement the logical network.

    Abstract: A method is provided for a coordinator to manage cluster membership. In a stable state, the coordinator provides a member list to all the nodes in a node list. The member list includes nodes that are cluster members. The node list includes nodes that are or wish to be members of the cluster. When the node list differs from the member list, the coordinator advances to a reconfiguration state to change the membership of the cluster. In the reconfiguration state, the coordinator sends a reconfiguration request to all the nodes in the node list. When reconfiguration acknowledgements are received from all the nodes within a timeout period, the coordinator updates the member list to be equal to the node list, persists the updated member list, sends a reconfiguration confirmation including the updated member list to all the nodes in the node list, and returns to the stable state.
