  • Patent number: 7499264
Abstract: The specification and drawings present a new apparatus and method for applying a turn and slide concept for opening and closing a device. A turning part of the device can rotate around a pivotal axis in an angle range, e.g., from a first position to a second position by a predetermined angle, the turning part is being pivotally connected to a first part (e.g., a base) of the device, thus opening the device by sliding a second part (e.g., a lid) from an initial position to a further position using an adjusting mechanism. The first part may comprise a first functional area and the second part may comprise a second functional area located on an exposed surface of the second part, wherein the second part is configured to cover the first functional area in the initial position and to reveal the first functional area in the second position.

  • Publication number: 20080242364
Abstract: Mobile phones use light signaling or vibrational effects to silently indicate to a user that e.g. a telephone call is incoming. The present invention provides a method, a component for generating vibrational effects combined with light effects and a mobile device implementing this component. The generation of the light effects is obtained from at least one light emitter (200, 201) having at least one light path (300), wherein said at least one light emitter (200, 201) is disposed relative to said mass (100) such that said mass (100) periodically blocks said light path (300) while moving, for generating light effects.

  • Publication number: 20070275759
Abstract: A mobile device powered by a battery is provided having a guard member for preventing a memory card from being removed from the mobile device when a battery is inserted in the device. The battery is removably received in a battery compartment and the memory card is removably received in memory card. The memory card slot has an opening in the casing of the mobile device and the guard member is movable from a first position in which it at least partly blocks the opening to a second position in which the memory card can be removed from the memory card slot. The battery compartment for the battery is arranged such that when the battery is inserted, the guard member is moved to the first position.

  • Patent number: 7283852
Abstract: A moveable functional element such as a keyboard is provided for use with a mobile communication device. The element is constructed in two wing portions. When the cover is swiveled between closed and opened positions, the wing portions move relative to the body of the device and the cover between two positions, a retracted position in which the functional element is hidden and an extended position in which the functional element of the device is exposed for normal use.

  • Patent number: 7199313
Abstract: A full function foldable keyboard for an electronic device and in particular a mobile communication terminal having first, second and third body elements is disclosed wherein hinged together second and third body elements are arranged for pivotal movement relative to one another about a lengthwise axis passing through the hinge as the device is moved between its operative closed and open positions. The second body element is arranged for rotational movement with respect to the first body element about a pivot axis passing lengthwise through the first and second body elements and is offset from one edge of the first body element and the hinge edge of the second body element. The third body element moves with transverse sliding movement along an angular linear path with respect to the first body element as the device is moved between its operative closed and open positions.

  • Publication number: 20070065220
Abstract: An electronic device with multiple body elements is configurable to predetermined fixed portrait and landscape orientations each of which define a respective different operative position. A first panel overlies at least one portion of a main body element first surface and has a surface relative to usage and is arranged for sliding engagement with the main body, whereby in a first fixed configuration at least one portion of the main body element first surface is covered and not available for usage and in the second fixed configuration said at least one portion of the main body element first surface is uncovered and available for usage.

  • Patent number: 7123240
Abstract: An input system for an electronic apparatus including at least one force sensing element and a joystick member. The at least one force sensing element is connected to an underside of a printed wiring board (PWB) of the electronic apparatus. The at least one force sensing element includes a plurality of force sensing domes extending in a downward direction from the PWB. The joystick member extends through the PWB and contacts the force sensing domes. The joystick member has a user contact section located above an upper side of the PWB. The joystick member is adapted to be moved to depress the force sensing domes towards the PWB.
