Patent number: 9311373Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method and system for generating a uniform resource locator using one or more terms in a hierarchical taxonomy. Specifically, embodiments disclosed herein provide receiving a plurality of terms for a term set and generating a hierarchical taxonomy for the term set using the plurality of terms. Once the hierarchical taxonomy has been generated, a navigation property may be assigned to at least one term in the plurality of terms. A navigation term set that mirrors the properties of the hierarchical taxonomy is then created using the at least one term.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2012Date of Patent: April 12, 2016Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Patrick Carl Miller, Peter Blair Gonzalez del Solar, Daniel E. Kogan

Publication number: 20140164470Abstract: Embodiments are provided that include client-server computing architectures that use minimal download features and functionality as part of page navigation operations, but are not so limited. In an embodiment, a client-server computer system uses a page transition strategy to navigate between electronic pages based in part on script, style, content, and/or other page differences that can be used as part of providing minimal download features and functionality. A method of an embodiment operates to package page incremental rendering information for use in rendering a new electronic page without having to reapply common aspects of the new electronic page and a reference electronic page. Other embodiments are also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 17, 2014Publication date: June 12, 2014Applicant: MICROSOFT CORPORATIONInventors: Arye Gittelman, Petru Mihai Moldovanu, Sterling John Crockett, Patrick Carl Miller

Publication number: 20140136948Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method and system for generating a webpage using one or more terms in a hierarchical taxonomy. Specifically, embodiments disclosed herein include receiving a selection of a term in a navigation term set. In embodiments, the term is associated with at least one content item. A query is the executed using the term and a webpage template, that is associated with the navigation term set, is dynamically populated based on the results of the query. A uniform resource locator is then generated for a webpage that corresponds to the webpage template. In embodiments, the uniform resource locator is generated using the navigation term set.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 28, 2012Publication date: May 15, 2014Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Patrick Carl Miller, Peter Blair Gonzalez del Solar, Daniel E. Publication number: 20140136569Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method and system for generating a webpage using one or more terms in a hierarchical taxonomy. Specifically, embodiments provide for identifying an item in a database where the item is associated with at least one term in a term set having a hierarchical structure. A uniform resource locator is generated for the webpage using the at least one term and the hierarchical structure associated with the at least one term. An identifier associated with the item is then determined and appended to the generated uniform resource locator.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 28, 2012Publication date: May 15, 2014Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Patrick Carl Miller, Peter Blair Gonzalez del Solar, Daniel E. Patent number: 8225202Abstract: A data system has a data structure with a posting corresponding to a set of pieces of content to be served. The posting includes a description of each piece of content including a name, a type, and a location thereof. The posting is presented to a user according to a pointed-to template. The template includes a placeholder within which each piece of content is to be presented, and positioning information setting forth a layout position for each placeholder. The template points to a separate content definition information module that includes content definition information for each placeholder including the name and type of the corresponding piece of content. Such name and type matches a corresponding name and type as set forth in the posting.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2008Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Nicholas Duncan, Kevin Ka-Wang Lui, Patrick Carl Miller, Mark Poernbacher

Patent number: 8133540Abstract: This application relates to a method of applying a thermally settable coating to a patterned substrate, such as an asphalt surface. The coating is applied in one or more preformed thermoplastic sheets and heated in situ to conform the thermoplastic material to the pattern formed in the underlying substrate. In one embodiment of the invention a pattern is formed in the asphalt surface using a removable template which is impressed into the asphalt when it is in a pliable state. The pre-formed sheets are then applied to the patterned surface and gradually heated. In an alternative embodiment of the invention the template is impressed into the pre-formed sheet and asphalt surface simultaneously after the sheet has been heated to a suitable temperature in situ. A bond reduction agent may be used to minimize adhesion between the template and the heated thermoplastic material.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2007Date of Patent: March 13, 2012Assignee: Flint Trading, Inc.Inventors: Patrick Carl Wiley, Alan Juristovski

Publication number: 20110180959Abstract: A method is disclosed utilizing off the shelf constant cross section thickness sandwich panels comprised of Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic (FRTP) resin skins and low density thermoplastic (TP) core material wherein the steps of selectively and controllably exposing the panels to heat and incrementally thermoforming the skin-core into a consolidated composite edge or intra-panel area in consideration of subsequent mating and attachment of the FRTP sandwich panel to other structures is achieved. The exact configuration of articles so thermoformed is design optimized to overcome manufacturing, assembly, weight, in-service and structural performance shortcomings of prior art and FRP sandwich panel structures.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 26, 2007Publication date: July 28, 2011Inventors: Matthew William Donnelly, William Andrew Kasoff, Patrick Carl McCulloch, Frederick Truman Williams
