  • Patent number: 6760678
Abstract: A method and system for continuously and automatically calibrating the settings of an electronic compass, as needed, while a vehicle moves from place to place is shown. The calibration technique of the present invention measures the ocal magnetic field while the vehicle moves from place to place and determines points on a reference Cartesian coordinate system. Each such point defines the endpoint for a vector corresponding with the measured field intensity and orientation of the local magnetic field. Any three such points are used to calculate the center of a circle that extends through all of those points. A vector that begins at the origin of the reference Cartesian coordinate system and terminates at the calculated center of the circle is thereafter subtracted from subsequent field measurement vectors that correspond to the field intensity and direction of the local magnetic field.

  • Patent number: 6662081
Abstract: A personal medication in storage dispensing unit is provided for receiving and storing medication, vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, pills capsules, gel tablets and the like in a manner which is easily accessible and which is conducive to inclusion within a medication regimen system. A medication regimen monitor can be included in this system in order to be programmed to signal proper medication dosage times. The monitor preferably provides non-compliance information, preferably information which persists and which designates which portion of the medication regimen was not complied with. The system also can include a holder for multiple storing and dispensing units in an ordered fashion consistent with daily requirements of the medication regimen.

  • Publication number: 20030174586
Abstract: A clock with a display of the liquid crystal display (LCD) type provides indicia such as time, day, month, year and temperature, and also provides sufficient back lighting to operate as a night light. The clock has a reflector module disposed behind the LCD display with a generally clear module element that may have an engraved back surface for improved light dispersion from one or more light sources, such as light emitting diodes (LEDs). The module element has edges with reflective properties, a light reflective material disposed behind said module element and one or more light sources disposed along an edge thereof. The edge of the module element preferably has a notch or recess for positioning the light source therein. The invention also includes reflector modules for clocks.

  • Patent number: 6065391
Abstract: An electronic chef's fork is provided which displays indicia such as food type and degree of doneness for a selected food type and temperature and which includes control areas by which the user of the electronic chef's fork selects the meat type. The operational circuitry of the device allows the user to select among an array of food type options and to thereby designate a degree of doneness for the selected type of food. A prompt message is provided to indicate the degree of doneness attained for the selected food type when the device is inserted into the food.
