Abstract: A self-contained demonstration that demonstrates the functionality of an application module. More specifically, the functionality of the application module with respect to information within an external information source that is located remotely from the application module may be demonstrated. In some instances, the components of a system providing the self-contained demonstration may be installed and executed on a single device, while the external information source would be located remotely and externally from the single device. In order to demonstrate the functionality of the application module, the self-contained demonstration may enable the application module to interact with a local information source in substantially the same manner as the application module would interact with an external information source. The local information source may be installed locally on the single device, and may be a scaled-down version of an external information source.

Abstract: The invention provides a system and method for extracting, storing, accessing, and/or analyzing statistical data from a plurality of software applications. In one embodiment, the invention includes a statistical data mining application and a universal application programming interface that extracts data summary objects from the plurality of software applications according to one or more extraction parameters using known policies regarding the application programming interfaces of the plurality of software applications. The policy knowledge is used by the universal application programming interface to translate data extraction requests of the statistical data mining application.

Abstract: A two-cycle, opposed piston engine with side-mounted crankshafts and cylinders isolated from mechanical stresses of the engine includes tailored cooling of cylinders and symmetrical cooling of the interior surfaces of piston crowns. Each opposed piston includes a compliant member that permits movement of an axially-centered rod mounted in the piston in order to maintain axial alignment with the bore of a cylinder in which the piston is disposed during engine operation. A single wristpin is disposed externally of the piston to connect the piston with connecting rods that run between the piston and the crankshafts.

Abstract: A method for generating HTML based on common XSLT includes retrieving XML data from a data provider in response to a request from a client, the XML data comprising at least one dataset associated with at least one SVG tag or at least one table tag. The retrieved data is dynamically transformed using a common XSLT file. One HTML page is automatically generated for each dataset included in the retrieved data at least partially based on the transformation, each HTML page comprising at least one table or one SVG chart.

Abstract: A method for customizing a data display using a presentation profile comprises retrieving extensible Markup Language (XML) data in response to a request from a client. A presentation profile is loaded based on at least one characteristic of the client. The XML data is formatted into a data display based on the presentation profile and the data display is communicated to the client.

Abstract: An integrated spring head/gimbal assembly holder is used to precisely load and unload a head/gimbal assembly (HGA) of the type used in magnetic disk drives. The holder includes a fixture base by which the holder is mounted. A first boss extending from the fixture base has a surface in which a recess is formed. The recess receives a second boss on the end of the HGA so that HGA rests on the surface of the first boss. A cantilevered beam extends from the fixture base and serves as a spring which includes a clamping head. Flexure of the cantilevered beam forces the clamping head to drive the second boss firmly against the sidewalls at the edge of the recess and to force the HGA against the surface of the boss. Thus, the HGA is precisely positioned and secured to the holder.
