  • Patent number: 8141139
Abstract: Federated single sign on (F-SSO) uses a token service that fulfills requests by executing a module chain comprising a set of modules. F-SSO runtime processing is enhanced by enabling a federated entity user to define a custom module to include in the chain. The custom module includes one or more name-value pairs, wherein a given name-value pair has a value that may be validated against an entity-defined rule. The rule is determined during the processing of the custom module based on one or more invocation parameters of the module chain. In a runtime operation, F-SSO begins in response to receipt of a token. In response, the processing of the module chain that includes the custom module is initiated. During processing of the custom module, an attempt is made to validate the value of a name-value pair based on the rule. If the value of the name-value pair based on the rule can be validated, processing of the module chain continues.

  • Patent number: 8136146
Abstract: A computer implemented method, data processing system, and computer program product for allowing limited access to a federation partner's audit logs in a secure, controlled manner, for the purposes of compliance demonstration. A request for audit data is received by a partner in the federated environment. The partner validates the request and requests a local report using local parameters against a local audit log store. The partner then builds a response based on the local report.

  • Publication number: 20120031893
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for measuring temperature in a cooking appliance, both of which utilize a circuit for reading an input from a thermal resistive device. By including a processor and an amplifier in the circuit, embodiments reduce the number of processor pins required to modify the amplified input arising from the amplifier. In one embodiment, the processor utilizes a single processor pin, through which is distributed a control output corresponding to the input and modifying the operating parameters of the amplifier.

  • Publication number: 20110232277
Abstract: A device and method for producing a reformate fuel from a hydrocarbon gas source. The invention enables the conversion of a dilute hydrocarbon gas into a more easily consumable reformate fuel. Gases having low concentrations of hydrocarbons are concentrated using a concentrator into a gaseous or liquid concentrated VOC fuel. The concentrated VOC fuel is then converted into a reformate using a reformer. The reformate is more easily consumed by an energy conversion device such as a combustion engine, fuel cell, sterling engine or similar device that converts chemical energy into kinetic or electrical energy. The reformer enables complex hydrocarbon fuels that are not normally suitable for use in an energy conversion device to be converted into a reformate. The reformate may be directly supplied into the energy conversion device.

  • Publication number: 20110185684
Abstract: A system comprising a multiple-bag pack supported for dispensing, loading, and removal of bags on a structure. The pack includes a bag-attachment portion wherein the multiple bags are sequentially attached. Each bag is removable in sequence by separation from the pack along a parting feature. The bags are contained within the structure and the bag-attachment portion is folded outwards over a lip to secure the bag pack. The front edge of the outermost bag of the pack is drawn over another lip to open the bag for loading. The rear edge remains attached to the bag pack, thus fully distending the mouth of the bag. To change bags, the rear edge of the bag is separated from the pack and the first lip along the parting structure. The front edge of the loaded bag is removed from the second lip, and the bag is closed and removed from the structure.

  • Patent number: 7969771
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention are generally directed to an apparatus and method associated with a semiconductor device with thermally coupled phase change layers. The semiconductor device comprises a first phase change layer selectively configurable in a relatively low resistance crystalline phase and a relatively high resistance amorphous phase, and a second phase change layer thermally coupled to the first phase change layer. The second phase change layer is characterized as a metal-insulator transition material. A programming pulse is applied to the semiconductor device from a first electrode layer to a second electrode layer to provide the first phase change layer with a selected resistance.

  • Patent number: 7961501
Abstract: The present invention provides a Single-Event-Upset (SEU) and Single-Event-Gate-Rupture (SEGR) protection against incident radiation for any bi-stable circuit either in one state, having a 2 transistor, 1 capacitor integrated circuit coupled to a bi-stable circuit's outputs, or in both states, having a 4 transistor, 2 capacitor integrated circuit coupled to the bi-stable circuit's outputs. The protection against SEU and SEGR is achieved by the 2T1C or the 4T2C circuits, by providing the opposite drive to the SEU or SEGR event through capacitive coupling, and shunting electron-hole pair current, created by an ion tracking through the bi-stable circuit, into the power supplies. The 2T1C integrated circuit architecture, which only protects bi-stable circuits in one state, is to allow the bi-stable circuit to be a Single-Event-Upset (SEU) detector by capturing the effect of an incident ion and store that state.

  • Patent number: 7950064
Abstract: A system, method, and program product is provided that operates when opening a word processing document that includes document content inserted at various insertion points within the document. The document is opened by a user that corresponds to a particular user identifier. The comments included in the document include recipient identifiers. A first set of comments are selected where the user's identifier is included in the recipient identifiers of the corresponding comments, and a second set of comments are selected where the user's identifier is not included in the recipient identifiers of the corresponding comments. The word processor displays the first set of comments at their respective insertion points within the document content and does not present the second set of comments.

  • Patent number: 7877480
Abstract: An authorization mechanism within a peer-to-peer network is presented. A central server that operates a centralized data repository search engine within a peer-to-peer network performs authentication and authorization operations with respect to users that access its services. A user at a peer node reviews peer-to-peer search results that have been gathered and returned by the centralized search engine. When the user desires to retrieve a file from another peer node, the user's peer node must obtain an authorization token from the central server, which authenticates the user or has previously authenticated the user. The user's peer node then presents the authorization token along with a request to retrieve the file from the other peer node. After verifying the authorization token, the other peer node responds with the requested file. If the other peer node cannot verify the authorization token, then the other peer node denies access to the file.

  • Patent number: 7857990
Abstract: Describes a composition comprising a mixture of (1) a major amount of calcium hypochlorite, e.g., hydrated calcium hypochlorite, and (2) a minor amount of calcium hypochlorite-compatible hydrophobic additive (other than discrete particulate Group IIA or IIIA metal stearates) in amounts sufficient to provide the composition with reduced hydrophilic properties. The composition has a solution rate in water at standard conditions that is less than the calcium hypochlorite used to prepare the composition, but sufficient for the intended application. Describes also calcium hypochlorite compositions in which the hydrophobic additive is an organo-silicon material, or a metal oxide, e.g., amorphous precipitated silica, treated with a hydrophobizing agent, such as an organo-silicon material, e.g., an organo-silane and/or organo-siloxane material.

  • Patent number: 7835110
Abstract: A micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) disc drive includes high-precision and integrated components to allow for increased functionality, robustness and reduced size as compared to currently produced disc drives. Integrating multiple subcomponents of the disc drive using batch processing provides low manufacturing costs. Furthermore, using MEMS techniques, new features can be added to disc drives. For example, an environmental control component, an accelerometer and/or a thermometer may be integrated into the housing of the disc drive.
