  • Publication number: 20150310279
Abstract: A method for providing target object information to a mobile device user is presented. The method includes receiving a request for target object information from a mobile device, determining the pose of the mobile interface device relative to the target object, and obtaining target object data for one or more measurable target object parameters (e.g., surface topography). The target object data is used to assemble augmented reality information configured for viewing in conjunction with a real-time view of the target object captured by the mobile interface device. The target object augmented reality information is then transmitted to the mobile device for display to the user.

  • Publication number: 20150300805
Abstract: A fringe shift measurement system is provided and includes an optical phase mask configured to receive light fringes from optical flats. The optical phase mask has first and second halves, each half having alternating patterns of opaque rings and transparent rings. The first half pattern is phase-shifted with respect to the second half pattern. The first and second halves are configured to alternately block the light fringes or allow the light fringes to pass through the optical phase mask. A splitter is configured to direct the light fringes from the optical phase mask in desired directions. Concentrators are positioned to receive light fringes from the splitter and configured to focus the light fringes in a desired location. Detectors are configured to receive the focused light fringes from the concentrators and configured to convert the focused light fringes into digital signals. A control unit is configured to analyze the digital signals.

  • Publication number: 20150209821
Abstract: The present invention provides actuation mechanisms that incorporate a transmission assembly that allows the mechanisms to cause actuation of workpieces according to a plurality of transmission modes (e.g., at least one forward transmission mode and at least one reverse transmission mode) on demand. Motion, direction, and/or force can be controlled by selecting the corresponding transmission mode. The mechanisms preferably are trigger-actuated by hand (i.e., manually) to cause movement of a workpiece in a desired direction. Desired directions can be linear or nonlinear. The same hand used for trigger action can also be used to change transmission modes in many modes of practice, even while using substantially the same grip used for trigger actuation. In other instances, actuation can be automated rather than manual. Preferably, both actuation and witching among transmission modes can be accomplished with one hand, even while maintaining substantially the same grip that is used for actuation.

  • Publication number: 20150089894
Abstract: A stay-in-place concrete form includes masonry shells layered with rigid insulation tied with plastic cross tie assemblies. The masonry shells can be connected with plastic dovetail connectors that compensate for the variation in height of the shells. This allows for the shells, together with the connectors, to be a consistent height and allows for dry stacking. The masonry shells can be bonded together with a layer of lightweight concrete poured in a cavity behind the masonry shells and/or bonded together by mortar joints. This dry stacking method can result in labor time and training savings over conventional masonry mortar construction.

  • Patent number: 8909368
Abstract: A system for transporting inventory items includes an inventory holder capable of storing inventory items and a mobile drive unit. The mobile drive unit is capable of moving to a first point with the inventory holder at least one of coupled to and supported by the mobile drive unit. The mobile drive unit is additionally capable of determining a location of the inventory holder and calculating a difference between the location of the inventory holder and the first point. The mobile drive unit is then capable of determining whether the difference is greater than a predetermined tolerance. In response to determining that the difference is greater than the predetermined tolerance, the mobile drive unit is also capable of moving to a second point based on the location of the inventory holder, docking with the inventory holder, and moving the mobile drive unit and the inventory holder to the first point.
