    Abstract: A roof rack and soft top assembly for a vehicle having an exposed passenger compartment protected by a windshield and a roll cage. The assembly includes an outer frame mounted to the vehicle exterior to the roll cage and surrounding a rear passenger compartment, and a plurality of slide rails mounted to the top of the roll cage above a front passenger compartment. The assembly further includes a soft top suspended from the outer frame with fasteners and a header assembly attached to a forward portion of the soft top that slides along the slide rails to engage with the top edge of the windshield, thereby covering the front passenger compartment. When open air driving is desired, the soft top can be withdrawn or removed from the slide rails and the outer frame and stored in the vehicle.

    Abstract: A modular cap assembly for covering a center bore of a wheel includes an outer piece having a first outward face with a cap retention structure formed therein, a first inward face, and a plurality of first mounting clips projecting from the first inward face to removably engage a wheel retention structure and couple the outer piece to the wheel. The cap assembly also includes a center piece having a second outward face, a second inward face, and a plurality of second mounting clips projecting from the second inward face to removably engage, one at a time, both the cap retention structure and the wheel retention structure. The second outward face is spaced from a wheel face when the center piece and outer piece are together coupled to the wheel and substantially flush with the wheel face when the center piece is coupled directly to the wheel.

    Abstract: A spring assist mechanism is disclosed for aiding manual deployment of a collapsible soft top that has a frame incorporating a back bow that includes spaced side struts joined at upper ends by a crossbar. The spring assist mechanism includes a bracket securable to the body of the vehicle on one side thereof. A pivot pin extends from the bracket to a distal end and a pivot plate is rotatably supported on the pivot pin. An attachment feature is fixed to the pivot plate displaced from the pivot pin and the pivot plate forms an attachment arm configured to be fixed to a lower end of one of the side struts. The pivot plate thus facilitates pivotal movement of the side strut and back bow between a generally vertical deployed configuration and a generally horizontal stowed configuration. A biasing member, which can be a coil spring, has a first end fixed relative to the bracket and a second end coupled to the attachment feature.

    Abstract: A modular snorkel system for an off-road vehicle has a hollow main body that normally is hidden from view behind a fender of the vehicle. The main body terminates at its upper end in an intake mount that projects upwardly from an end of the forward cowl of the vehicle. The other end of the main body is coupled to an end of an air tube that is configured to be routed through the engine bay of the vehicle, again normally hidden from view. The other end of the air tube is coupled through an elbow to the air filter housing of the vehicle. Various intake modules such as a low intake module, a high intake module, an in-line filter module, and others can be mounted to the intake mount of the main body to accommodate different hostile off-road conditions such as water fording and operation in deserts.
