  • Publication number: 20220345957
Abstract: A communication device configured to operate in dual connectivity (DC) with a master node (MN) and a secondary node (SN) can be configured with a master cell group (MCG) configuration associated with the MN and a secondary cell group (SCG) configuration associated with the SN. The communication device can detect a radio link failure on the MCG. The communication device can further determine whether a primary secondary cell group cell (PSCell) change procedure is ongoing. The communication device can further respond to the radio link failure on the MCG based on whether the PSCell change procedure is ongoing.

  • Patent number: 11470518
Abstract: A radio access network comprises a first radio access node and a second radio access node. On determining that a first UE that is served by the first radio access node should start relaying through a second UE, it is determined whether the second UE is served by the first radio access node. In response to determining that the second UE is served not by the first radio access node but by the second radio access node, a handover is initiated, such that the first and second UEs are served by the same radio access node.

  • Publication number: 20220312532
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for enabling reporting of a subset of measurements performed by a wireless device when in an idle or inactive state to a cellular communications network. In one embodiment, a method performed by a wireless device for reporting measurements to a cellular communications network comprises performing measurements while in an idle or inactive state, storing the measurements, determining a subset of the measurements to be reported by the wireless device, and reporting the determined subset of the measurements to the cellular communications network. In this manner, only desired measurements can be reported, which reduces the amount of information that needs to be reported by the wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20220312354
Abstract: The present disclosure provides procedures for early synchronization based on Idle mode measurements to enable fast connection establishment and resumption on transition to a Connected mode. When transitioning (120) to a Connected state, the UE selects one or more cells/frequencies for which in addition to the target cell configured/activated by the network to initiate early synchronization (140) prior to transition to the Connected state. When the UE receives (150) a message from the network requiring the UE to synchronize with a target cell in a target frequency, the UE determines (160) if the message from the network indicates that the UE shall configure or add a target cell, that is not the PCell, for which the UE has synchronized and, if so, uses the synchronization information to initiate (170) a random access procedure towards the target cell configured/activated by the network.

  • Publication number: 20220295366
Abstract: A wireless device (16) receives a control message (26) that indicates a nested conditional configuration (28). The nested conditional configuration (28)includes an outer conditional configuration (28-1) and an inner conditional configuration (28-2). The wireless device (16) is to apply the outer conditional configuration (28-1) if the wireless device (16) detects fulfillment of an outer trigger condition. The wireless device (16) is to apply the inner conditional configuration (28-2) if the wireless device (16) detects fulfillment of both the outer trigger condition and an inner trigger condition.

  • Patent number: 11395207
Abstract: A wireless device and method for re-establishing a radio connection in a communications network comprising a first RAT and a different second RAT. The wireless device is operating in a first cell served by a first radio network node operating in the first RAT. When a connection failure with the first cell is detected, the wireless device performs a cell selection and selects a second cell served by a second radio network node operating in the second RAT. The second cell is known by the wireless device to be a candidate for re-establishment. The wireless device determines a first set of parameters to be used as an identifier of the wireless device, wherein the first set of parameters is associated with the first cell. The wireless device transmits, to the second cell, a re-establishment request message comprising the first set of parameters.

  • Publication number: 20220191779
Abstract: An example wireless device (12) in a dormant state improves its selection of a camping cell by accounting for multi-cell configurations. Among other things, a multi-cell configuration may improve throughput between a wireless communication network (10) and the wireless device (12), based on the network (10) serving the wireless device (12) from two or more cells (24). By camping on a cell (24) that belongs to a multi-cell configuration that is possible for the wireless device (12), the wireless device (12) reduces the time and signaling needed to establish that multi-cell configuration, upon the wireless device (12) connecting to the network (10) via the camping cell. Accounting for multi-cell configurations may be done jointly, along with accounting for conventional priorities, such as conventionally-prioritized frequencies and Radio Access Technologies (RATs) and may be incorporated into the ranking of cells (24) based on per-cell radio-signal measurements.

  • Publication number: 20220191759
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for handover of a UE from a source node connected to a first core network to a target node connected to a second core network. The UE receives, from the source node, a mobility command including an indication of the radio access technology (RAT) used by the target node and a message container containing configuration information for the target node. The UE further determines, based on the indication of the RAT used by the target node, whether to treat the handover as an inter-RAT handover or as an intra-RAT handover with a core network change, and performs a radio resource control procedure for one of an inter-RAT handover or an intra-RAT handover with a core network change based on the determination.

  • Publication number: 20220182868
Abstract: Methods for reporting quantized early measurements to a network node are provided. In examples disclosed herein, a wireless device may perform an early measurement(s) during a dormant state. When the wireless device transitions from the dormant state to a connected state, the wireless device quantizes the early measurement(s) and reports at least a subset of the quantized early measurement(s) to the network node. By quantizing the early measurements, it may be possible to generate an early measurement report with reduced size, thus making it possible to include or multiplex the early measurement report in an uplink message with limited transport blocks. As a result, the network node may expedite connection setup for Carrier Aggregation (CA) and Dual Connectivity (DC). In addition, it may be possible to protect the early measurement report before security activation.
