Publication number: 20140378783Abstract: A sensor system for sensing a stimulus in vivo includes an implantable sensor. The sensor comprises a passive resonator circuit having a resonant frequency and including at least a pair of generally parallel spirally wound unconnected conductive coils sandwiching a layer of solid dielectric material that manifest a change in property affecting the resonant frequency in response to application of the stimulus to the layer. A resonant frequency of the sensor is modulated by altering the spacing or gap between the coils or altering the overlapping area of the coils. The sensor is energized through application of radiofrequency energy and the responding resonant frequency is detected. The sensor can be advantageously attached to a medical implant to form a practical smart implant for clinical purposes.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 5, 2013Publication date: December 25, 2014Inventors: Eric Howard Ledet, Rebecca Ann Wachs, Keegan Paul Cole, David Fiorella

Publication number: 20140278264Abstract: The technology disclosed herein provides accurate, targeted, building improvement content in a way that resonates with the user by considering the user's whole ecosystem. The technology uses details of the user's home, neighborhood, family, environmental and historical factors, goals, economic situation, and motivations and preferences to tailor content to a user's personal situation. A server or other computing device may accomplish this by receiving data from the client, a third party, or data local to the server; building modeling constructs based on these data sets such as a physics-based model of the building and a behavioral model of the user; operating these models relative to possible discrete building improvement content units; and using the results to determine personalized building improvement content for the user such as, for example, a webpage.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2013Publication date: September 18, 2014Inventors: Michael Bukhin, Paul Cole, Charles D. Corbin, Emily Weitkamp

Patent number: 6062500Abstract: A reel for a tape drive and cartridge is provided herein. The reel can be utilized as a take-up reel for the tape drive and/or a feed reel for the cartridge. The reel includes a hub which receives the storage tape and a pair of guide bars which guide the storage tape onto the hub. Importantly, the guide bars inhibit lateral tape movement during transfer of the storage tape between the take-up reel and the feed reel. This minimizes data recovery errors and increases the life of the storage tape.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1998Date of Patent: May 16, 2000Assignee: Quantum CorporationInventor: Paul Coles

Patent number: 5903162Abstract: An adapter for a measurement test instrument electrical probe has a flexible dielectric substrate with electrically conductive runs thereon. One end of the conductive runs has first electrical contacts with a pitch geometry corresponding to the pitch geormetry of electrical contacts of an electronic device that is electically connected to a substrate via the electrical contacts of the device. The other end of the conductive runs has second electrical contacts that have a pitch geometry compatible with the electrical probe of the measurement test instrument.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1997Date of Patent: May 11, 1999Assignee: Tektronix, Inc.Inventors: Paul A. Patent number: 5723798Abstract: A panel of several circuit boards connected by bridges is separated into individual boards by opposed dies which sever the link. Shock from the die impact can damage fragile components mounted on the circuit boards, especially when dies become dull and the singulation machine needs to be serviced. Periodic measurements of die acceleration and panel acceleration are made during a die wear cycle to obtain an empirical function of the correlation of those parameters. A threshold of acceptable panel acceleration is established and the related limit of die acceleration is determined from the correlation function. Die acceleration is then monitored during a production run to predict when machine servicing is needed.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1996Date of Patent: March 3, 1998Assignee: Delco Electronics CorporationInventors: Michael Paul Cole, David Paul Bellus
