  • Publication number: 20230334800
Abstract: An augmented reality surgical system includes a head mounted display (HMD) with a see-through display screen, a motion sensor, a camera, and computer equipment. The motion sensor outputs a head motion signal indicating measured movement of the HMD. The computer equipment computes the relative location and orientation of reference markers connected to the HMD and to the patient based on processing a video signal from the camera. The computer equipment generates a three dimensional anatomical model using patient data created by medical imaging equipment, and rotates and scales at least a portion of the three dimensional anatomical model based on the relative location and orientation of the reference markers, and further rotate at least a portion of the three dimensional anatomical model based on the head motion signal to track measured movement of the HMD. The rotated and scaled three dimensional anatomical model is displayed on the display screen.

  • Publication number: 20230336932
Abstract: An external portion of an auditory prosthesis includes an external magnet that interacts with an implantable magnet to hold the external portion against the skin. Magnetic force generated by the stray field of these magnets can disturb the operation of a vibrating element of the auditory prosthesis. The technologies described herein utilize additional magnets disposed within portions of the auditory prosthesis to redirect the magnetic flux, which allows the vibrating element to be disposed more closely to the magnets, reducing the overall height profile of the prosthesis.

  • Publication number: 20230302275
Abstract: Presented herein is an electroporation shield configured to be removably coupled to an implantable stimulating assembly that includes one or more stimulation electrodes. The electroporation shield is coupled to stimulating assembly such that the electroporation shield electrically insulates the one or more of the stimulation electrodes from an electroporation electrical field generated by one or more electroporation electrodes coupled to the electroporation shield. The electroporation shield may be coupled to the stimulating assembly in a manner that facilitates removal of the electroporation shield and the one or more electroporation electrodes. After electroporation, without having to remove or reinsert the stimulating assembly, thereby exposing the one or more stimulation electrodes to the cells of the recipient for subsequent delivery of stimulation.

  • Patent number: 11753888
Abstract: A control unit includes a rotatable tubular body that rotates around a spindle. A torque transfer unit may be attached to the tubular body and the spindle. A force applied to the torque transfer unit by a biasing element may control a first torque applied by the tubular body to the spindle. The first torque is independent of a rotational velocity of the tubular body. A second torque is applied to the spindle with a torque generator, the second torque controlling the net torque. Controlling the net torque allows the absolute orientation of the control unit to be controlled.

  • Patent number: 11745994
Abstract: A vented funnel for transferring liquid from one container to another includes a base portion adapted for connection to the container, a converging portion connected to the base portion, and a vent portion located between the base portion and the converging portion. The vent portion has a plurality of vent openings extending between the base portion and the converging portion and a plurality of ribs located between the vent openings so that each vent opening is separated from an adjacent vent opening by one of the plurality of ribs. In this manner, air within the container flows through the vent openings when liquid discharged from the converging portion displaces air in the container. The ribs extend between the base portion and the converging portion so that the ribs solely support the converging portion on the base portion while defining the vent openings.

  • Patent number: 11744351
Abstract: A system for transferring an object from one user to another user that is useful to prevent unintentional dropping of the object is disclosed. A cam is rotatably connected to a structure that is configured to be attached to a first user. A central housing with two ports is configured to allow for the attachment of a tool by lanyard or other means. When the first cam is locked into the one of the housing ports, it cannot be released from the housing unless a second cam is inserted into the second housing port and captured. Once the second cam is captured the first cam is released, thus safely passing the tool from the first user to the second user while minimizing the chance of dropping the tool.
