  • Patent number: 8892462
Abstract: Disclosed herein are techniques for providing a digital receipt to a consumer upon tender of payment to a merchant through the use of a proxy payment card in a financial transaction. The proxy payment card can be associated with multiple financial accounts (e.g., accounts associated with credit cards, debit cards, or gift cards). The digital receipt is automatically received at a personal computing device of the consumer in response to the financial transaction being charged to a financial account associated with the proxy payment card. The digital receipt includes information indicative of the financial transaction. The digital receipt can also include one or more interactive components that allow the consumer to interact with the transaction (and/or merchant) subsequent to transmission of the receipt, such as adding a tip, providing feedback, redeeming a promotion reward, tracking loyalty reward points, or reviewing transaction records of past and present transactions.

  • Patent number: 8774031
Abstract: Media, systems, and methods for ensuring adequate data-processing capacity in a communications network are provided. An embodiment of the method includes identifying a communications resource to evaluate, determine a maximum capacity that the resource is capable of handling, projecting a capacity-exhaustion timeline, wherein the timeline includes time estimations that are adjusted by an adjusting factor that is based at least in part on an accuracy of prior projection estimates. Determining a more accurate capacity exhaustion timeline allows for more accurate comparison against a time required to add such capacity. Recommends to effect capacity additions can be provided.

The meter is configured to receive data from the vehicle indicating distance travelled, to measure waiting time, and to calculate an amount of a passenger fare based at least on the distance travelled and the waiting time. The first mobile computing device is positioned in a driver section of the vehicle and receives data from the meter. The second mobile computing device is positioned in a passenger section of the vehicle and receive card information from the card reader. The first and second mobile computing devices are configured to wirelessly connect to the wireless access point.

  • Publication number: 20130185152
Abstract: A method for a transaction with a taxi includes establishing secure communication between a first computing device in a driver section of a vehicle and a second computing device in a passenger section of a vehicle, receiving in the second computing device a card number from a card reader coupled to the second computing device before receiving a signal from a meter indicating an end of a trip for the passenger, after receiving the card number submitting the transaction for authorization from at least one of the first device or the second device, after receiving a signal from the meter indicating the end of the trip for the passenger, displaying an amount of a fare for the trip on a display, and receiving an indication that the transaction is authorized.

  • Publication number: 20130079550
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a static mixer (1) with a plurality of nozzles, and more generally, to a mixer and method of use thereof for mixing phosgene and amine with shaped jets or at least two rows of nozzles (15,16)where the second row (16) is used to enrich an area of deficit of the phosgene flow within the static reactive jet mixer (1). Configurations of enriching secondary flow include the use of concentric, eccentric, or offset jets of amine/phosgene, and the use of nozzles with different and regular geometries to help focus amine/phosgene to a specific area of the principal phosgene flow.

  • Patent number: 6917860
Abstract: A method for transmitting environmental conditions information, which includes receiving at least some environmental conditions information, scaling the received information such that a scaled environmental conditions value is determined for a particular vehicle, receiving an environmental conditions threshold value, comparing the scaled value to the received threshold value, determining whether the scaled value is greater than the received threshold value, and transmitting, if the scaled value is greater than the received threshold value, at least some of the information.

  • Patent number: 6650972
Abstract: This invention combines meteorological, environmental, or dynamic vehicle data with data specific to a particular craft or vehicle, such as, for example, the weight, speed, acceleration, response characteristics, propulsion, mode of propulsion, and configuration, of a particular aircraft, and produces a simplified display map showing environmental conditions data as the environmental conditions data relates to that specific vehicle. The environmental conditions data is presented on the display map in the form of environmental condition annotations that have different coloring, shading, and/or iconization as determined by the type, severity, and area of the various environmental conditions relative to the vehicle. This invention separately provides travel route optimization for a particular craft or vehicle based on the combination of meteorological and other environmental data with data specific to the particular craft or vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20030005052
Abstract: An Internet based broadcasting system manages the insertion of advertisements and other messages into multiple broadcasts of live sporting events and other types of broadcasts. The insertion of advertisements and other messages is governed by program logs generated by a traffic system, signals extracted from the broadcasts themselves, and signals received from producer systems. The traffic system facilitates the marketing of advertising opportunities for the multiple broadcasts packaged in a variety of ways. The broadcasts are received by tuner systems that are automatically downloaded and installed on user's computers. The tuner systems can download and display demographically selected multimedia advertisements, banner advertisements, and a variety of messages that may be called for by the producer systems, which may be wireless portable computers that can be carried to sports events or other broadcasts by the producers of the broadcasts.
