Publication number: 20130327871Abstract: A rolling mill pouring reel automated control system for dynamically regulating pouring reel rotational speed based at least in part on forward velocity of rolled stock product approaching the pouring reel. Product forward velocity is sensed by the control system that in turn uses the sensed forward velocity to adjust the pouring reel steady state rotational speed and/or wobble oscillation of the rotational speed. The control system preferably regulates the interrelationship between the product forward velocity and reel rotational speed in a closed feedback loop.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 7, 2012Publication date: December 12, 2013Applicant: Siemens Industry, Inc.Inventors: Paul Barry Riches, Srdan Barcot

Publication number: 20130186157Abstract: A system for maintaining a continuous speed in a long rolling mill is provided that includes a plurality of guide rollers that feed a billet product from a caster to an entry roll stand along a mill pass line to an exit roll stand. Also, the system includes a plurality of gauges positioned at a plurality of locations along the mill pass line, the gauges perform speed measurement of the billet product passing along the guide rollers. Furthermore, the system includes a logic controller that receives the speed measurement and maintains a speed relationship where the speed between the caster and the entry roll stand is constant as well as the exit speed of the end roll stand is also constant.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 14, 2013Publication date: July 25, 2013Applicant: Siemens VAI Metals Technologies GmbHInventor: Paul Barry Riches

Patent number: 8057856Abstract: The present invention is a method for gettering undesirable atomic species from a vaporizing atmosphere during deposition of multi-element thin film phosphor compositions. The method comprises vaporizing one or more getter species immediately prior and/or simultaneously during the deposition of a phosphor film composition within a deposition chamber. The method improves the luminance and emission spectrum of phosphor materials used for full colour ac electroluminescent displays employing thick film dielectric layers with a high dielectric constant.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2005Date of Patent: November 15, 2011Assignee: Ifire IP CorporationInventors: Dan Daeweon Cheong, Paul Barry Del Bel Belluz, Stephen Charles Cool, Abdul M. Nakua, James Alexander Robert Stiles, Yong-seon Lee, Terry Hunt, Vincent Joseph Alfred Pugliese

Publication number: 20110088208Abstract: A surface treating appliance includes a surface treating head rotatably connected to a yoke, and a main body including a casing housing a fan unit for creating a fluid flow through the appliance. The main body is moveable relative to the yoke between an upright position and a reclined position. A retaining mechanism is provided for inhibiting rotation of the head relative to the yoke when the main body is in the upright position. The retaining mechanism includes a locking member which is moveable between a stowed position and a deployed position for inhibiting rotation of the head relative to the yoke, and an actuator for urging the locking member towards its deployed position. To provide a compact appliance, the actuator is carried by the casing so as to move therewith and urge the locking member towards its deployed position as the main body is moved to the upright position.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2010Publication date: April 21, 2011Applicant: Dyson Technology LimitedInventors: James WHITE, Charles William Owen Smith, Paul Barry Reid

Publication number: 20110088210Abstract: A surface treating appliance includes a surface treating head rotatably connected to a yoke, and a main body pivotably moveable relative to the yoke about a pivot axis between an upright position and a reclined position. To provide a compact appliance, the actuator moves with the main body about the pivot axis to urge the locking member towards its deployed position as the main body is moved to the upright position.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 7, 2010Publication date: April 21, 2011Applicant: Dyson Technology LimitedInventors: James WHITE, Charles William Owen Smith, Paul Barry Reid

Patent number: 7557368Abstract: A semiconductor photodetector (1) for detecting short duration laser light pulses of predetermined wavelength in a light signal (2) comprises a micro-resonator (3) of vertical Fabry-Perot construction having a Bragg mirror pair, namely, a front mirror (5) and a rear mirror (6) with an active region (8) located between the front and rear mirrors (5,6). An N-type substrate (11) supports the rear mirror (6). The light signal (2) is directed into the active region (8) through the front mirror (5) while a pump beam (17) is directed into the active region (8) at an end (18) thereof. The spacing between the front and rear mirrors (5,6) is such as to cause light of the predetermined wavelength to resonate between the mirrors (5,6).Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2003Date of Patent: July 7, 2009Assignee: The Provost, Fellows and Scholars of the College of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Queen Elizabeth Near DublinInventors: John Hegarty, Liam Paul Barry, Herve Armel Francois Folliot, James Christopher O'Gorman

Patent number: 7277421Abstract: AIN based methods and apparatus for transitioning telephone numbers and customers from the PSTN to a VOIP network are described. AIN line number portability features are used to allow a few gateway switches that interconnect the PSTN and VOIP networks to service customers whose telephone numbers were originally serviced by several remote PSTN switches. AIN LNP triggers are used to forward PSTN calls, directed to the PSTN switch previously used to service a telephone number, to the gateway switch assigned to route such calls to the IP network. AIN triggers set at the gateway switch insure that the subscriber with the ported telephone number continues to receive AIN services provided before the telephone number was ported to the IP network. Calls from ported telephone numbers to telephones in the PSTN are billed from PSTN switches through the use of AIN functionality and triggers set at the gateway switch.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2002Date of Patent: October 2, 2007Assignee: Verizon Services Corp.Inventor: Paul Barry Pershan
