  • Publication number: 20160134087
Abstract: A connection system includes a feature module that supplies various functionalities, a portable countertop stand having an upright section that selectively receives the feature module and an umbilical connecting the portable stand to an external appliance to deliver utilities to the portable countertop stand. A utility port selectively delivers at least one utility to the feature module when engaged with the upright section. A utility receiver removably engages the utility port by hand without the use of tools and selectively receives a predetermined set of utilities when the feature module engages the upright surface. A connection interface detects when the feature module is engaged with the upright section and the predetermined utility set required by the engaged feature module. After the feature module is engaged, the connection interface prompts the utility port to release the predetermined utility set to the feature module.

  • Publication number: 20160133147
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for scoring a constructed response generated by a user and providing information on the user's writing behavior. A constructed response and associated electronic process log are received. The constructed response is processed to generate first feature values representative of aspects of the constructed response. The electronic process log is processed to generate second feature values related to the user's actions in generating the constructed response. A score for the constructed response is generated using the processing system by applying a computer scoring model to the first and second feature values. A rule of a rule engine that is satisfied is identified, the rule being satisfied when one or more feature values of the second feature values meet a condition associated with the rule. Information on the user's actions in generating the constructed response is provided based on the satisfied rule.

  • Publication number: 20160135270
Abstract: An antenna arrangement for a solid-state lamp is disclosed. Embodiments of the invention provide for improved performance by positioning the antenna for radio frequency (RF) control of the lamp non-parallel to the main driver board and/or the LED board. This positioning can provide distance from the main board circuitry and a ground plane for the antenna. An RF daughter card can be used for the antenna and also possibly for other RF components. In some embodiments, the antenna is substantially perpendicular to the main board. In some embodiments, the lamp is dimensioned as a replacement for a standard incandescent bulb, such as an A, BR, or PAR bulb. In some embodiments, an optically transmissive enclosure and/or a base define the interior cavity of the lamp. A plurality of LEDs can be disposed within the optically transmissive enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20160128708
Abstract: A two phase method for reducing the formation of biofilm includes an evacuation of ambient air from a region about the surgical or treatment site, to extract airborne or aerosolized bacteria ejected from the site by the treatment. The extracted bacteria are prevented from settling back onto the cleansed tissue surface, thus at least reducing colonial bacteriological growth and concomitantly exuded biofilm material. A second phase involves the attachment of one or more ultrasonic transducers to the patient over or near a surgical treatment site after the surgery is terminated. Each applied ultrasonic transducer is used to vibrate the patient's tissues at the treatment site to disrupt biofilm formation.

  • Publication number: 20160133701
Abstract: A transistor is provided in which an elongate drain region has end portions formed in parts of the transistor where features of the transistor structure have been modified or omitted. These structures lessen the current flow or electric field gradients at the end portions of the drain. This provides a transistor that has improved on-state breakdown performance without sacrificing off state breakdown performance.

  • Patent number: 9338078
Abstract: A link state information correction scheme is implemented by the present disclosure. In one embodiment, the correction scheme is implemented by a reload logic module that cooperates with link state protocol logic configured on a reload routing element (or routing element that has reloaded or hard restarted). The reload logic module is configured to receive a database descriptor message at a reload routing element, where the database descriptor message is received from a neighbor routing element during an adjacency formation. The reload logic module is also configured to determine whether the database descriptor message identifies a stale version of a link state advertisement (LSA), where the LSA is self-originated by the reload routing element. The reload logic module is also configured to generate a new version of the LSA during the adjacency formation.

  • Patent number: 9337006
Abstract: An inlet apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus may include a first conduit for sampling, and a second and third conduit for directing flow throughout the inlet apparatus. Flow may be induced in two opposite directions through the second conduit, which affect the flow of gas through the first conduit for sampling. The various conduits of the apparatus may be connected to a device for inducing flow in different directions. The duration of the flow in a particular direction affects the amount of sample gas that enters a detection device.

  • Patent number: 9337879
Abstract: Systems and methods for transceiver communication are discussed herein. A filter module may be configured to filter each carrier signal of a multicarrier transmit signal with a different bandpass filter, each bandpass filter configured to filter a different frequency band. A carrier control module may be configured to control the plurality of bandpass filters of the filter module using a carrier selection signal to enable or disable each bandpass filter, thereby coupling carrier signals of the multicarrier transmit signal to a first set of bandpass filters and decoupling a second set of bandpass filters. Filtering the carrier signals of the multicarrier transmit signal is performed by the first set of bandpass filters while the decoupling of the second set of bandpass filters limits energy in the respective frequency band. An antenna may be configured to transmit the filtered multicarrier transmit signal.
