  • Publication number: 20180131096
Abstract: A rectenna for high efficiency RF-to-DC wireless energy harvesting that includes an off-center-fed dipole antenna and a rectifying circuit, wherein the rectifying circuit comprises at least one rectifying diode. The input impedance of the antenna may be directly conjugate matched to the impedance of the rectifying circuit over a wide range of frequencies and/or under different operating conditions. The impedance matching network required by a conventional rectenna system may therefore be eliminated using the methods disclosed for the design and implementation of the rectenna. The rectenna offers consistently high RF-to-DC power conversion efficiency over a wide range of frequencies and under different operating conditions. The rectenna may be connectible to a rectifying circuit utilizing different types of rectifying diodes.

  • Publication number: 20170347848
Abstract: A surface cleaning head includes dual rotating agitators (e.g., a leading roller and a brush roll) and a removable cover for covering a top of the agitators and allowing access to the agitators from a top of the surface cleaning head. The dual agitators may be used to facilitate capturing of debris in the air flow into a suction conduit on the underside of the surface cleaning head. The brush roll may be located in a brush roll chamber and at least partially in an opening to the suction conduit. The leading roller may be positioned adjacent to and in advance of the suction conduit opening such that the leading roller engages debris and moves the debris toward the brush roll and the opening. The leading roller may be removable from the housing and held in place by the removable cover. The cover may be coupled using isolated latching mechanisms.

  • Publication number: 20170257711
Abstract: As disclosed, a hearing prosthesis that receives audio provided by an external device will also receive from the external device a control signal that indicates one or more characteristics of the audio, such as a specification of a dynamic range of the audio content, a specification of latency-sensitivity of the audio content, or various other characteristics of the audio. The hearing prosthesis then responds to receipt of the control signal by automatically configuring its sound processor in a manner based at least in part on the indicated one or more characteristics of the audio content, to help facilitate processing of the received audio.

  • Publication number: 20160015291
Abstract: This method of determining an intracochlea tissue impedance comprises using at least two stimulating electrodes to apply an electrical stimulus to intracochlea tissue. A voltage caused by the stimulus is measured between two measuring electrodes distinct from the stimulating electrodes. From the voltage a stimulus-response characteristic of tissue between the two measuring electrodes is determined This allows the tissue/electrode interface impedance and potential and the tissue impedance and potential to be uniquely determined. In turn, modiolus currents can be estimated in monopolar stimulation mode.
