  • Publication number: 20130106436
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes sensing by a touch sensor a periodic noise signal caused by an external power source removably coupled to the touch sensor. A measurement signal that is synchronized to the periodic noise signal may be generated and transmitted to a location of the touch sensor. The method may further include detecting whether a touch has occurred at or near the location of the touch sensor based on a response of the location of the touch sensor to the measurement signal.

  • Publication number: 20130073094
Abstract: An HVAC control system is described comprising: a server (32) having planned information, a man-machine interface (50) capable of communication with the server (32) to provide dynamic information about building occupancy based on a change in cold water in a mains riser. A central control unit (28) which can communicate with the server (32), and a room node (22, 24) for providing information about conditions within the room whereby, the information about room conditions is compared to planned information and/or dynamic information and adjustments made accordingly. The room node (22, 24) may comprise sensors (276, 278, 272, 274) which provide information about conditions in the room. Dynamic information can include changes to planned occupancy, the effect of solar heating and weather conditions. Changes to planned occupancy can be established through detecting location (internally or externally) or destination of a user; and calculating estimated time of arrival of a user.

  • Publication number: 20120317926
Abstract: A method for packaging bags includes providing a plurality of bags arranged in a stack; moving the stack of bags to a tube; rotating the stack of bags to form a rolled set of bags; and moving the rolled set of bags into a packaging container. A system for carrying out the method includes a plate having an open gap sized to support the stack of bags over the open gap; a tube having a longitudinal slot oriented to receive the stack of bags; a finger arrangement to move the stack of bags into the tube and then rotate the stack into a rolled set; and a push member to move the rolled set of bags into a packaging container.

  • Publication number: 20110267304
Abstract: The exemplary devices and processing techniques allow multiple measurement devices or chips to work together to sample a screen that is larger than one measurement device might sample, by allowing sharing X or drive lines amongst the measurements devices. Particular implementations of the subject matter described in this specification can be implemented so as to realize one or more of the following optional advantages. The sharing of the drive lines may allow for a screen sized or otherwise configured to have more measurement nodes than would be produced by the sum of the nodes that could be measured by the individual devices. For a screen that requires multiple measurement devices, the drive line sharing thus may allow use of a smaller number of measuring devices.

  • Patent number: 8018377
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of processing Global Positioning System (GPS) carrier phase and pseudorange information. Dual-frequency carrier phase and pseudorange measurements from GPS receivers are processed by specifying separate oscillator parameters for the carrier phase and pseudorange measurements. Carrier phase estimates of errors of the oscillator are arbitrarily biased with respect to the pseudorange estimates, and ambiguity parameters are constrained to be integer-valued. Isolating the ambiguities as integer valued parameters provides extra information that can be exploited to maximize the use of GPS and other Global Navigation Satellite Systems.

  • Patent number: 7811028
Abstract: A check tube is sealed on one end and may be open on the opposite end. The check tube may have a cape, a flap and/or a hood attached to the check tube to, among other things, anchor the check tube and/or to prevent water flow, and thus erosion, between adjacent check tubes, beneath the check tube and/or downstream of the check tube. A temporary pocket defining a subset of the volume of the check tube is provided in the check tube and filled with fill material that expands after being introduced to water. Just prior to, during or after installation of the check tube, the pocket is opened, broken or dissolved and the check tube is introduced to water thereby allowing the fill material to expand to the full volume of the check tube.

  • Publication number: 20090160751
Abstract: A display pixel arrangement is provided in which the row electrode metal layer is between the pixel electrode layer and the metal layer defining the columns. In this way, it can be used to provide a shield between the pixel electrodes and the column lines, thereby reducing capacitive coupling between adjacent pixels, even if the pixel electrodes overlap the column lines. This improves the performance of digital to analogue conversion, particularly if charge sharing between columns is used.

  • Publication number: 20080198961
Abstract: A circuit comprises a first circuit portion (52) controllable by first and second inputs, and a second circuit portion (54) for generating the second input. The first circuit portion (52) has first operating characteristics when the second input (invPn) is provided as control input, and second operating characteristics when the second input (invPn) is not provided as control input. The second circuit portion (54) is adapted to cease functioning through ageing before the end of the lifetime of the first circuit portion (52) thereby to switch the first circuit portion from the first to the second operating characteristics. This circuit uses the failure of a portion of the circuit which generates at least one input control signal, so as to change the overall circuit characteristics as the circuit ages.

  • Publication number: 20070192818
Abstract: The aim of this invention is to provide a complete system to create, to deploy and to execute rich multimedia applications on various terminals and in particular embedded devices. A rich multimedia application is made of one or more media objects, being audio or visual, synthetic or natural, metadata, and their protection being composed and rendered on a display device over time in response to preprogrammed logic and user interaction. We describe the architecture of such a terminal, how to implement it on a variety of operating systems and devices, and how it executes downloaded rich, interactive, multi-media applications, and the architecture of such applications.
