  • Publication number: 20200350108
Abstract: A multi-core common-mode current suppression device (CMD), such as a balun and line isolator, includes at a pair of spaced cores. The cores may be separated by a spacer, such that in the case of a pair of toroidal cores, the axial centers of the cores may be arranged parallel to each other or coaxial with each other. Such a configuration allows the multi-core (CMD) to achieve higher levels of overall common-mode impedance (CMI) as compared to that of existing CMDs that utilize a stacked core configuration.

  • Publication number: 20200350105
Abstract: A common-mode current suppression device, such as a balun and line isolator, includes a core formed of nanocrystalline material. The core may be formed in any desired configuration, such as a toroidal core, a sleeve core, a drum core, a rod core, or a binocular core. The use of nanocrystalline material allows the core to achieve increased common-mode impedance (CMI) that exceeds that achievable by cores formed of traditional ferromagnetic materials.

  • Patent number: 8686919
Abstract: An apparatus (10) for attaching an antenna mast (11) to a post (12) positioned in the ground includes a bracket (14) attached to the mast (11). A plate (13) is attached to the post (12). The plate has a slot (32) which receives a bolt (30) that extends through the mast (11) and the bracket (14). The plate also has an elongate opening (33) which receives a bolt (31) that extends through the mast (11) and the bracket (14). Nut assemblies (34) are provided for the bolts (30, 31) and when tightened, the mast (11) and the bracket (14) are attached to the plate (13) and the post (12). But when loosened, the bolt (30) may be moved in slot (32) and bolt (31) may be moved in opening (33) until the bolt (30) is out of the slot (32) at which time the mast (11) and the bracket (14) may be rotated relative to the post (12) and the plate (13).

  • Patent number: 8669911
Abstract: An antenna transmission line for feeding multiple items includes a first conductor member, a second conductor member, and a dielectric material positioned between the first and second conductor members, which prevents water from accumulating between the first and second conductive members. Means are provided to connect multiple elements to the transmission line at connection terminals. An insulator may be provided adjacent to each of the connection terminals, the insulator being generally non-conductive. A plurality of holes provided in the insulator on either side of the conductor members allows the elements to be weaved therethrough to provide a more stable connection.

  • Patent number: 8175546
Abstract: The present receive antenna interface for an RF (radio frequency) transceiver includes a transmitting and receiving antenna. The receive antenna interface also includes a relay and an electrically-isolated transmit-ground connector that are configured such that the receiving antenna is not capable of being used by the transceiver unless the transmit-ground connector is connected to a ground-on-transmit connector provided by the transceiver. As a result, damage from the accidental transmission of RF signals into the receiving circuitry of the transceiver is prevented.

  • Patent number: 8130168
Abstract: The mast (11) of an antenna is pivotally carried by a post (12) by a hinge assembly (13). A pedestal (33) is carried by the post (12) and is adapted to carry a winch (40) having a line (46) with a hook (47) at the end thereof. A hook mount (50) is carried by the mast (11) and is adapted to receive the hook (47) of the winch (40). A locking bracket (56) is carried by the mast (11) and is connected to the pedestal (33) when the mast (11) is positioned adjacent to the post (12). An insulator bar (29) is positioned between the mast (11) and the hinge assembly (13) and the locking bracket (56).

  • Patent number: 7764244
Abstract: An antenna includes a feedpoint support plate (10) which is provided with terminal connectors (27, 28) to attach feed wires (25, 26) to dipole lines (31, 32). A balun (33) of one size may be connected to the plate (10) by fastening assemblies (43, 44, 45) received at apertures (29, 30) in the plate (10) and at apertures (41) of the balun (33). Baluns of other sizes may also be connected to the plate (10) by fastening assemblies (64, 65, 66) received at apertures (62, 63) in the plate (10) and at holes (60, 61) provided with the coil (57). The plate (10) can also carry a strain relief bracket (70) which includes grip members (76) which engage the feed line (24) at two spaced locations with a loop (79) formed therebetween to isolate a coupling (34) from any strain.

  • Patent number: 7554500
Abstract: The present tuning circuit for a trap antenna having a plurality of traps tuned to a predetermined frequency comprises a coil in which a conductive compensation section is electrically coupled to one end of the coil and a conductive tuning section is electrically coupled to the other end of the coil. A pair of rods electrically coupled to the tuning section extend in opposite directions therefrom, whereby the adjustment of the rods and the coil allow the tuning circuit to be operable at a desired resonant frequency. To prevent the detuning of the trap to which the tuning circuit is being attached, the dimension of the compensation section may be adjusted to enable the trap antenna to be operable at both its predetermined frequency and the desired resonant frequency established by the tuning circuit.

  • Patent number: 7432875
Abstract: A system (10) for attaching a mast (11) of an antenna to a support post (12) includes a base plate (13) connected to the post (12), and a bracket plate (14) carrying the mast (11) and tiltably mounted to the base plate (13) by a plurality of connecting components (21). Each connecting component includes a bolt (37), two of which are received through notches (18) formed in the plate (13) and one of which is received in each track (22, 23) formed in the plate (13). A nut (42) tightens each of the bolts (37) to attach the plate (14) to the plate (13). When the bolts (37) are loosened, the plate (14) may be lifted relative to the plate (13) to move the bolts (37) out to the notches (18). Thereafter, the plate (14) may be tilted relative to the plate (13) to pivot a bolt (37) in one of the tracks (23) about a bolt (37) positioned in a pivot point (27) of the other track (22) to lower the antenna to the ground where it may be conveniently serviced.

  • Patent number: 7427964
Abstract: A center fed half-wave dipole antenna system includes first and second end brackets that are separated by a center bracket. The center bracket and each of the end brackets include a plurality of electrically isolated terminals allowing the center bracket to be coupled to each of the end brackets via a pair of dipole lines that may contain multiple dipole wires. As such, the antenna system is able to increase the effective length of the dipole antenna in a reduced amount of space, thus reducing the mounting area requirements of the antenna system.

  • Patent number: 7321340
Abstract: A hub assembly (10) includes a hub (12) which can be attached to the mast (11) of an antenna by fastening assemblies (41) at a selected position along the mast (11). The hub (12) can carry rods (46) in horizontal slots (39, 40) to form a capacitance hat for the antenna, or can carry rods (46) in vertical slots (37, 38) so that the rods (46) can be positioned to overlie a trap (51) by a selected extent to tune the trap (51) a selected amount. Clamping assemblies (47) hold the rods (46) in the selected slots (37-40). Apertures (36) are provided in the hub (12) and are adapted to receive guy wires to support the antenna.
