  • Patent number: 7002525
Abstract: An antenna (10) includes a mast (12) which carries a coil (13) and a capacity hat (14). The capacity hat (14) includes a cylindrically shaped block (15) that is slidably received on the mast (12). The block includes a plurality of chordal bores (20–25) which are selectively adapted to receive conductive rods (40) therein. The configuration of the rods (40) is established by first identifying the desired frequency of operation for the antenna (10) and then selecting the size of the coil (13) and the configuration of the rods (40) which will provide approximately the desired frequency preferably using the smallest coil (13) possible to reduce losses.

  • Patent number: 6937207
Abstract: A device (10 or 50) for attaching an element (11) of an antenna to the boom (12) or mast (13) of an antenna while at the same time insulating the element (11) from the boom (12) or mast (13) includes two plates (14 or 51). In one embodiment, the plates (14) are provided with a radiused recess (20) to receive the element (11) therebetween. In another embodiment, an insert (65) having a radiused surface (68) receives the element (11) and is positioned between the plates (51). In one embodiment, hub members (21) extend outwardly from the plates (14) and mate with each other, and in another embodiment, lugs (59) extend outwardly from each other and mate with each other. A clamp (25 or 61) is adapted to attach the boom (12) to the hub members (21) or the lugs (59). If the device (10) is to be attached to the mast (13), a saddle clamp (40) is provided to position the mast (13) adjacent to one of the plates (14).

  • Patent number: 6930649
Abstract: A log-periodic dipole antenna (10) includes a boom (12) which through insulator blocks (15) carries a plurality of elements (13) consisting of element halves (13A, 13B) which extend in opposite directions from the boom (12). Spaced transmission wires (38A, 38B) extend along the boom (12) without crossing each other and yet communicate with alternatingly opposite element halves (13A, 13B) of adjacent elements (13) in view of their connection with brackets (30A, 30B) attached to element halves (13A, 13B). The transmission wires (38A, 38B) are spaced at the point of communication with each element (13) a distance proportional to the impedance of that particular element (13) by virtue of their being attached at different locations along the brackets (30A, 30B).

  • Patent number: 6927740
Abstract: A plate (10) has an opening (14) therein which receives the vertical member (11) of an antenna. A flange (20) is formed on the plate (10), and the vertical member (11) can be attached directly to the flange (20) or can be attached to the flange (20) by a saddle clamp assembly (21). The radial wires (12) of the antenna are carried at the periphery of the polygonal plate (10) by connector assemblies (15). The flange (20) is provided with a coax connector assembly (30) to receive a coax feed line of the antenna so that the radial wires (12) conductively communicate with the feed line.

  • Patent number: 6771228
Abstract: An antenna (10) includes a boom (12) which through insulator blocks (15) carries a plurality of elements (13) consisting of element halves (13A, 13B) which extend in opposite directions from the boom (12). The insulator block (15) includes compartments (18) to receive the element halves (13A, 13B) and a pedestal (38) formed below each compartment (18) provides strength to that area of the block (15). The block (15) has opposed sidewalls (22) with surfaces (24) to receive the boom (12). The bands (33) of a clamp hold the boom (12) and are received in the space between the pedestals (29) and the sidewalls (22). A cross-shaped member (27) is also located between the sidewalls (22) to strengthen the block (15) while at the same time reducing the weight thereof.

  • Patent number: 6669400
Abstract: In a system for connecting two tubes (11, 12), the end (13) of the first tube (11) is telescopically received in the end (14) of the second tube (12). A hole (15) in the first tube (11) is aligned with a hole (17) in the second tube (12) while at the same time smaller holes (16, 18) in the tubes (11, 12) are aligned with each other. A fastener assembly (20) which includes a fastener having a head (21) and a threaded shaft (22) with an enlarged sleeve (23) positioned therebetween, is passed through the holes (15, 17). The threaded shaft (22) can pass through the smaller holes (16, 18), but the sleeve (23) is larger than the holes (16, 18) and cannot pass therethrough. When a nut (25) is tightened on the threaded shaft (22) a shoulder (24) formed by the sleeve (23) bears against the tube (11) to thereby connect the tubes (11, 12).
