  • Publication number: 20100185504
Abstract: Providing for network-based management of dynamic mobile coupons (DMCs) employed in mobile device-related commerce is described herein. Management can include mitigating processing load involved in processing dynamic characteristics of a set of DMCs, facilitating post-transaction evaluation of DMCs, or facilitating a virtual shopping experience in conjunction with redeeming DMCs in a mobile-commerce environment. Communicative association between a mobile device and network components can be implemented to leverage data collected by the mobile device with communication and processing capabilities of the network. Dynamic DMC states are determined from the collected data, which are implemented to facilitate the mobile-commerce. The disclosure provides an integrated mechanism for efficient utilization of DMCs to enhance user experience and satisfaction with mobile commerce.

  • Patent number: 7684797
Abstract: A telecommunications system includes an infosphere having a mobile telephone. A first telecommunications device may request to be added to the infosphere by sending a request to a registry server. In response to the request, the registry server adds the first telecommunications device to the infosphere by creating a network address for the first telecommunications device, the network address being related to the telephone number of the mobile telephone. In some embodiments of the telecommunications system, the registry server may require authorization from a second telecommunications device in the infosphere before adding the first telecommunications device to the infosphere.

  • Publication number: 20090284245
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments are directed to wireless power transfer. A transmitting device or a receiving device for use in a wireless transfer system may be equipment or a household appliance. The transmitting device includes a transmit antenna to wirelessly transfer power to a receive antenna by generating a near field radiation within a coupling-mode region. An amplifier applies an RF signal to the transmit antenna. A presence detector detects a presence of a receiver device within the coupling-mode region. A controller adjusts a power output of the amplifier responsive to the presence of a receiver device. The presence detector may also detect a human presence. The power output may be adjusted at or below the regulatory level when the presence signal indicates human presence and above a regulatory level when the presence signal indicates human absence.

  • Publication number: 20090187593
Abstract: Apparatus, methods and computer program products are provided for targeted media content acquisition on a wireless device. The wireless device selects media content to receive based on a resident user profile, locally constructed based on passive user data, active user data and user inference data drawn from the passive and active user data. Additionally, aspects provide for grouping of the media content prior to distribution, including communicating groups of related data in unison to limit the number of times that a wireless device needs to tune-in and/or wake-up to receive the media content, thereby reducing power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20090132391
Abstract: A system and method for enabling a user to retrieve, decode, and utilize hidden data embedded in audio signals. An exemplary implementation includes a microphone structured to receive sound waves representative of an audio signal and hidden data embedded in the audio signal. The then microphone converts the received sound waves into an electrical output signal. The system also includes a processor electrically coupled to the microphone and configured to receive the electrical output signal in order to extract the hidden data and provide information represented by the hidden data as an output thereof. A user interface is also provided and is electrically coupled to the processor and configured to receive a first input from the user and activate the processor to selectively initiate extraction of the hidden data. The processor produces as an output the information represented by the hidden data. Finally, the system includes a user presentation mechanism configured to present the information to the user.

  • Publication number: 20090061884
Abstract: Dynamic mobile coupons (DMCs) having a variable commercial value and/or other variable coupon characteristic are provided herein. By way of example, a DMC can be distributed to a mobile device based on criteria established by a sponsor of the DMC. A redemption value of the DMC can be variable and dynamically established based at least in part on data associated with a recipient mobile device. Upon redemption of the DMC at a retail entity, the value is fixed and applied to a transaction. Details of the transaction are provided to a remote clearinghouse that performs mediation and indemnification functions to finalize the transaction. As described, the subject disclosure provides a DMC that facilitates a rich and flexible mechanism to generate purchasing incentive for consumers in a mobile environment.

  • Patent number: 7472396
Abstract: An extensible event notification system detects certain events, and notifies requestor programs that have registered to receive such notification. The system includes a notification manager, multiple event notifier programs, multiple requester programs, a map, and a notification dictionary. When loaded by the notification manager, each event notifier program detects certain prescribed events. When advised by notifier programs of events, the notification manger consults the map to identify the requester programs registered for those events and any applicable notification parameters. Then the notification manger loads the requestor programs registered for those events, and notifies them of the occurrence of the events according to the applicable notification parameters.

  • Patent number: 7424290
Abstract: A wireless communications device is provided. The wireless communications device, pre-loaded with static objects, may be operated under user direction to wirelessly download and install dynamic objects. The device includes various initiators, which request execution of an object by submitting a unique target identifier to an object manager, whereupon the object manager identifies the requested object, its entry point, and object class and then activates the requested object accordingly. The wireless communications device may activate dynamic objects, when present, to the exclusion of static objects already resident on the device, thus enabling the updating of the static objects via a dynamic object download.

  • Patent number: 7184954
Abstract: A speech signal is decoded by a vocoder and the reconstructed speech samples are provided to a decoded frame check unit. The decoded frame check unit examines the energy of the reconstructed speech and compares the energy of the reconstructed speech to a range of acceptable energy values. If the energy is not within the range of energy values, a frame erasure is declared and the decoded frame is prevented from being to the speaker in the telephone. In the exemplary implementation, the speech is reconstructed by a vocoder which includes a postfilter which in turn includes automatic gain control. The automatic gain control element of a post filter includes a means for measuring the energy of the decoded speech data. This measured energy is used by the decoded frame check unit to decide whether to provide the decoded data to the user or to declare a frame erasure. This implementation reduces the amount of additional hardware necessary to implement the present invention.

  • Patent number: 7165099
Abstract: An applet requiring a virtual machine is downloaded to a wireless device. A software platform on the device determines that a virtual machine is used by the applet during execution. Without additional user interaction, the virtual machine is downloaded to the wireless device. This allows those applets requiring a virtual machine to be used with devices that don't have the virtual machine already installed. Further embodiments include the dynamic loading of a system service when an application is being loaded that uses the system service. A unique identifier associated with the system service may be used to determine if determine if the system service is loaded.
