  • Patent number: 8019466
Abstract: A container screening system that uses multiple orthogonal sensors for detecting hazardous materials, such as liquid explosives and precursors of liquid explosives, in sealed containers. The container screening system comprises a first sensor that detects materials inside the container using a first detection technology, a second sensor that detects materials insider the container using a second detection technology, and a data processing unit that processes data from the first and second sensors and generates a screen result. The system reduces false positives and increases probability of detection by matching the relative strengths and weaknesses of each technology.

  • Publication number: 20110211762
Abstract: A method of selecting a homography model from point correspondences of an associated image pair; a method of filtering point correspondences from a pair of associated images; a method of calculating a homography transformation; and a method of image differencing; including implementing one or more sampling constraints, e.g. partition zones and an exclusion zone, that provide a more even spread of point selection over the image, and/or that provide for selected points to be spread further apart, than would be the case if the one or more sampling constraints were not implemented. Repeated selections of combinations of points may be selected in a deterministic manner, and the deterministic manner may be tailored to an escape condition.

  • Patent number: 8006950
Abstract: An apparatus support (11) with a damping characteristic comprises a rigid reinforcing component, in particular a steel plate (19), encapsulated by a body (16) of compliant material, particularly a composite of particulate mineral material and synthetic binder. The plate (19) defines an opening (19a) at spacing from the upper side of the body (16) and a mounting ring (21) is embedded in the body so as to be disposed at least partly above the opening. The ring (21) has a peripheral flange (21a) which is spaced from the plate (19) and from the upper side of the body and overlaps the plate in vertical projection. Material of the body is thus disposed above the flange (21a) and also sandwiched between the flange and the plate so that a damping zone is present around the ring both above and below the flange.

  • Publication number: 20110114453
Abstract: A twin strand conveyor uses roller chains to move pallets along straight conveyor sections and an unpowered corner assembly that enables the pallets to glide around corners of the conveyor. The pallets are transferred from an upstream conveyor section into the corner assembly using a corner injection unit that includes powered rollers that lift the pallets off the roller chains an onto a set of ball transfers that support the pallets as they glide through the corner assembly. A pickup unit having powered rollers draws the pallets off the ball transfers and onto the roller chains of the downstream conveyor section. Side guides are used to direct the pallets around the turn and onto the downstream conveyor section. One or more movable guides can be used in conjunction with a third or more conveyor sections to permit selective diverting of the pallets between the different conveyor sections.
