  • Publication number: 20120133735
Abstract: The invention relates to the encoding of visual data captured by two or more cameras in a layered depth format. The invention proposes a method and device for layered s depth image encoding. The device is adapted for encoding at least one occlusion layer of the layered depth image with a greater horizontal width than a foreground layer of the layered depth image. The method comprises a corresponding step. Further, a non-transitory storage medium carrying at least one encoded layered depth image is proposed. The additional horizontal width can be used for conveying the part of information which is provided in the images/videos captured by the at least two cameras but not comprised in the foreground layer.

  • Patent number: 8160159
Abstract: The process for coding a mosaic of images giving a stream of coded data the mosaic being composed of subimages, the subimages being composed of image elements, resynchronization markers in the stream allowing resynchronization of the data at reception level, wherein the subimages are placed under one another in the image to be coded so as to give a mosaic, the mosaic is coded element by element according to a TV-type scan so as to provide data of the stream, the first element of each subimage being identified, and a resynchronization marker is placed in the stream, before each first element of a subimage, so as to identify the data relating to the subimage.

  • Publication number: 20120075419
Abstract: A method for adapting 3D video content to a display under different viewing conditions is disclosed. The method has the steps of: retrieving a stereoscopic image pair; obtaining a maximum disparity value for the stereoscopic image pair; determining a largest allowable shift for the stereoscopic image pair using the obtained maximum disparity value; calculating an actual shift for a left image and a right image of the stereoscopic image pair using the determined largest allowable shift; and shifting the left image and the right image in accordance with the calculated actual shift.

  • Publication number: 20110122230
Abstract: The device comprises the means to generate a stream structured on several levels: a level 0 comprising two layers, a base layer containing the video data of the right image and a level 0 enhancement layer containing the video data of the left image, or conversely, a level 1 comprising two enhancement layers, a first level 1 enhancement layer containing a depth map relating to the image of the base layer, a second level 1 enhancement layer containing a depth map relating to the level 0 enhancement layer image, a level 2 comprising a level 2 enhancement layer containing occlusion data relating to the base layer image. Applications for coding 3D data relating to 3D digital cinema, 3D DVD, 3D TV, etc.

  • Patent number: 7701458
Abstract: A method is disclosed that allows a content provider to transmit font information to a receiver, and that further allows a receiver terminal to receive and apply such information, thus giving improved possibilities for the content provider to define how to render the transmitted text or symbols on a display. The method is good for data streaming systems, in particular MPEG-4 based systems. Advantageously, the received font information can be stored if the terminal contains an appropriate storage device.

  • Patent number: 7502862
Abstract: A device for transmitting data to a plurality of client devices transmits the data according to a plurality of predetermined profiles. Each of the plurality of client devices is associated with at least one profile. The device includes a unit for adapting the content of the data to be transmitted as a function of the predetermined profiles by generating data groups. Each of the data groups represents the content to be transmitted according to a predetermined profile. The device also includes a unit for creating at least one data stream encapsulating the data groups adapted to the various profiles allowing the client devices to recover from the stream, the data groups adapted to their profile. The device further includes a unit for transmitting the stream created to the client devices.

  • Patent number: 7379565
Abstract: This method determines the displacement of a pixel between a first and a second image, the first image representing, moreover, an object in a first scene taken from given viewpoint, and the second image representing the same object in a second scene, this second scene being obtained from the first scene by moving the object in the first scene and/or by moving the viewpoint of the first scene. The method comprises a definition operation of the colour of at least one point of the object of the second scene according to the position of this point in the first image such that the colour of the pixel of the second image corresponding to this point indicates the position of this pixel in the first image.

  • Patent number: 7272791
Abstract: The invention concerns a device receiving data associated with a first profile and generating data associated with a second profile, comprising means to extract facts associated with the first profile, means to extract facts associated with the second profile, a set of rules describing a way to modify facts associated with said first profile into facts associated with said second profile, means to analyze said facts associated with the first profile and said facts associated with the second profile, means to modify facts associated with said first profile into facts associated with said second profile according to said set of rules. The device is characterized in that it comprises, means to request additional rules when said set of rules does not allow to modify facts associated with said first profile into facts associated with said second profile.
