  • Publication number: 20180005144
Abstract: Some embodiments enable a traveler to delay a ride which was previously arranged with a ridesharing service. For example, a traveler may be notified when the time for a previously arranged ride is approaching, and may indicate that the ride should be delayed by a short period. Some embodiments may enable the traveler to request a short delay with minimal effort and thought, so that if he/she is otherwise occupied when notified, he/she may quickly and easily delay the ride without having to divert his/her full attention from other tasks.

  • Publication number: 20180005145
Abstract: Some embodiments are directed to a server component providing to a client device information which a traveler may use to determine when various ridesharing services have surge pricing in effect for a ride, enabling the traveler to mitigate the effect of surge pricing on the price of the ride. Some embodiments are directed to a server component causing one or more ridesharing services to be passively monitored, and automatically notifying a traveler when surge pricing for a ride is discontinued, so that a traveler need not check and re-check with the ridesharing service(s).

  • Publication number: 20170330111
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention are directed to techniques for enabling a traveler to book a ride through a ridesharing service in advance. Some embodiments are directed to making it easy for a traveler to book a ride in advance, by allowing the traveler to specify a starting location, a destination and a time at which they would like to arrive at the destination, so that different transportation options and/or a pick-up time may be identified. Some embodiments are directed to techniques for reminding the traveler of ride details as the departure time approaches, and for updates to be issued to the traveler if travel conditions (e.g., traffic, weather, emergencies, etc.) threaten to increase the amount of time needed to travel from the starting point to the destination location.

  • Publication number: 20170329806
Abstract: An interactivity system is provided that tracks interactivity between a target entity and participant entities and identifies entities whose interactions satisfy an interactivity criterion. The interactivity system maintains for the target entity interactivity models between the target entity and each participant entity, with each interactivity model modeling the interactions between the target entity and that participant entity. The interactivity system dynamically updates the interactivity models as notification of interactions are received. Upon receiving a query that specifies an interactivity criterion, the interactivity system analyzes the interactivity models to determine whether the interactivity criterion is satisfied. When an interactivity criterion is satisfied, the interactivity system sends a response to the query indicating that the interactivity criterion is satisfied along with the identity of the entity that satisfies the interactivity criterion.

  • Publication number: 20160284177
Abstract: A lighting system including one or more light emitting strips, which includes a light emitting strip including a plurality of light emitting diodes along a length of the light emitting strip. The light emitting strip includes three conductors connected to the light emitting diodes in connection arrangements that permit addressing of selected ones of the light emitting diodes to illuminate the diodes. The diodes are arranged in physical groups wherein each diode in the physical group is addressed by a different address. The physical groups are repeated so that diodes having a same address, but being in different groups, are in address groups. Address signals illuminate one address group. A preconfigured controller is connected to the diodes to generate a running light display in either a forward direction or a reverse rejection. A programmable controller controls the controllers via a data line to control light operation and to detect failures.

  • Publication number: 20150095431
Abstract: A relationship view system generates a relationship view of information for a relationship between a user and another person for display to the user. The relationship view system identifies information relating to the person. For each of a plurality of information types, the relationship view system identifies items of that information type that are related to both the user and the person. The relationship view system then generates a display page for displaying information relating to the identified items of each information type. The generated display page thus displays information related to both the user and the person for multiple information types simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20150095800
Abstract: A system for prioritizing communications for review by a user based on communication patterns between the user and the user's contacts is provided. The prioritization system generates a score for a contact based at least in part on a communication pattern between the user and the contact. The score indicates a likelihood that the user will want to give a high priority to reviewing communication from that contact. If the score satisfies a priority criterion, the prioritization system identifies communications from that contact that have not yet been reviewed by the user. When scores for multiple contacts satisfy the priority criterion, the prioritization system may order the contacts based on their scores.

  • Patent number: 8789971
Abstract: A flexible, integrally formed single piece light emitting diode (LED) light wire that provides a smooth, uniform lighting effect from all directions of the LED light wire. The integrally formed single piece LED light wire contains a conductive base comprising first and second bus elements formed from a conductive material. The bus elements distribute power from a power source to LEDs that are mounted on the first and second bus elements so that it draws power from and adds mechanical stability to the first and second bus elements. The flexible, integrally formed single piece LED light wire is assembled so that the first and second bus elements are connected to each other prior to the LED being mounted and such integrally formed single piece LED light wire is formed without a substrate.

  • Patent number: 8584143
Abstract: Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with collection access are described. One example system includes a data store to store a set of listener object identifiers. A listener object identifier identifies a member of a set (or collection) of listener objects. A Listener object initiates an action in response to an occurrence of an event associated with a member of a set of external logics. A member of the set of external logics invokes a notify process to trigger actions. The example system may also include storing the listener object identifiers in an array to allow instances of the notify process to operate in parallel.
