  • Patent number: 10946738
Abstract: A vehicle fuel tank assembly includes a fuel tank and an electrically conductive top plate that closes and seals a fuel-fill opening in the fuel tank. The top plate includes electrical dissipation structures and features that allow for electrical charge dissipation of the fuel tank to an external structure such as the vehicle chassis. The dissipation structures include an electrically insulative carrier that is partially embedded in the top plate using an overmolding process, and an electrical conductor that is supported by the carrier. The electrical conductor provides an electrical connection between the top plate and the chassis that is independent of the fuel tank and the fuel tank mounting structure.

  • Patent number: 10882395
Abstract: A fuel tank assembly includes a fuel tank and a fuel pump module. The module supports a fuel pump that delivers fuel to an engine of a vehicle, and includes a module housing that provides a cavity that receives the fuel pump, a reservoir that is actively filled with excess fuel discharged from a fuel pressure regulator, and a fuel return passageway that directs excess fuel discharged from the pressure regulator to the reservoir. When the fuel tank assembly is inverted, as may occur when the vehicle is operating under certain dynamic conditions, the discharged fuel is retained within the reservoir, and is supplied to the fuel pump inlet via a wicking filter that extends between the reservoir and the fuel pump inlet. As a result, engine stall due to lack of fuel during certain dynamic conditions can be delayed or avoided.

  • Publication number: 20200393682
Abstract: An optical waveguide for a head up display having two optical input regions. Optical gratings direct light injected into the optical input regions towards and output region and to be trapped in the optical waveguide by total internal reflection. Beam splitters are provided to expand the pupil in two dimensions. Light from each input region is directed to different areas of the output region.

  • Publication number: 20200186353
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for scanning an item utilizing an X-ray scanner in order to facilitate a determination of whether the X-ray radiation penetrated through the entirety of the scanned item. Various embodiments comprise a conveying mechanism, an X-ray emitter, a detector, and an X-ray penetration grid (XPG). The XPG may comprise a radiopaque grid that may serve as a reference for determining whether radiation passes through the scanned item, the grid oriented such that the grid members are neither parallel nor perpendicular to the direction of travel. Such orientation may minimize or eliminate “ghosted” radiation signals included in a visual display of the radiation received by the detector. A scanned item may be oriented with the XPG such that radiation emitted by the X-ray emitter that passes through a portion of the scanned item must also pass through the XPG before being received by the detector.

  • Patent number: 10409059
Abstract: The present invention provides a projection display, for displaying an image to a viewer. An image-providing light source device is arranged to inject an input pupil of multi-spectral image bearing light into a waveguide assembly. The waveguide assembly comprises first and second diffraction regions arranged respectively for expanding the input pupil in first and second generally orthogonal dimensions and outputting an exit pupil expanded in the first and second dimensions from the waveguide assembly. The diffractive regions of the waveguide assembly are matched to cause zero or substantially zero net chromatic aberration. A combiner is arranged to direct the exit pupil towards the viewer for viewing an image and to transmit light from a real world scene through the combiner so that the image overlays the light from the real world scene.
