  • Patent number: 10805785
Abstract: Methods, a core network node (104A) and a node (102A) in a radio access network, RAN, (102), for enabling emergency services for wireless devices in the RAN. The core network node (104A) sends (2:1), to the RAN node (102A), information about one or more Access and Mobility Management Functions, AMFs, that support emergency services, to avoid an emergency fallback procedure for wireless devices in the RAN. The RAN node (102A) then selects (2:2) an AMF (104B) that supports emergency services for a wireless device (100) in the RAN, based on the received information. Thereby, the wireless device will have immediate access to emergency services and no delaying emergency fallback procedure is performed which could be critical in an emergency situation.

  • Publication number: 20200305235
Abstract: Embodiments include methods, performed by a first radio network node (RNN) in a wireless network, to establish a communications interface with a second RNN in the wireless network. Such methods include receiving, from a third RNN in the wireless network, a Transport Network Layer (TNL) address associated with the second RNN. The first and third RNNs are configured for wireless communication with wireless devices via an E-UTRA radio access technology (RAT), and the second RNN is configured for wireless communication via an NR RAT. The third RNN can be a proxy node for discovery of TNL addresses associated with a plurality RNNs configured for wireless communication via the NR RAT. Such methods include establishing the communications interface with the second RNN based on the TNL address received from the third RNN. Other embodiments include complementary methods performed by a second RNN, and RNNs configured to perform such methods.

  • Patent number: 10750574
Abstract: The invention proposes to introduce a method for a Radio Access Network for providing “Local Switching” between call legs of a call. Within said method the Radio Access Network receives a call identifier for a leg of a call from a Core Network to be handled by the Radio Access Network. The Radio Access Network stores said received call identifier, compares said received call identifier with stored call identifiers for call legs of calls via said Radio Access Network. If said received call identifier matches a stored call identifier the Radio Access Networks establish local switching of call legs identified by the matching call identifier. In an alternative embodiment, the invention proposes to introduce a method for a Core Network for providing local switching for call legs of a call. Within said method the Core Network receives or generates a call identifier for a leg of a call. The Core Network stores said received call identifier and identifies a respective Radio Access Network for said leg of said call.

  • Patent number: 10750361
Abstract: A basestation in a cellular communications network is operable to send a message to a Mobility Management Entity, relating to a suspension or resumption of a connection of a UE, wherein the message contains key renewal information. The Mobility Management Entity receives the message, and determines whether a key renewal condition is met. If the key renewal condition is met, the MME forwards a new NH, NCC pair to the base station. If a message received from the MME includes a NH, NCC pair, the basestation derives keying information using the NH, NCC pair for future use in deriving keys.

  • Publication number: 20200259896
Abstract: Techniques for enhancing performance in Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) scenarios, including techniques for time-sensitive networking (TSN) and 5G wireless network integration. An example method, performed by a wireless device, comprises receiving system information (SI) from a radio base station (RBS) of a radio access network (RAN), the SI being indicative of support for TSN through the RBS, and establishing at least one TSN stream with an external data network, through the RBS. The example method further includes receiving a first timing signal from the wireless communications network, via the RBS, receiving a second timing signal from the external TSN data network to which the wireless device is connected, comparing the first timing signal to the second timing signal to determine an offset, and transmitting the offset to the wireless communications network.

  • Patent number: 10721790
Abstract: A method and user node for maintaining a connection with a network node when operating in a multi-carrier mode using a first filter configuration to receive multiple frequency carriers simultaneously for downlink communication. The user node applies a mode switching scheme comprising first intervals for the multi-carrier mode and second intervals for a single carrier mode using a second filter configuration to receive a single carrier for the downlink communication. In this case, the user node switches temporarily from the multi-carrier mode to operate in the single carrier mode during the second intervals according to the mode switching scheme. Thereby the user node is enabled to maintain the connection by receiving messages and/or control signalling from the network node over the single frequency carrier during the second intervals, for example when the multi-carrier mode is highly disturbed by interference.

  • Patent number: 10721619
Abstract: It is provided a core network node, e.g. MME, and a first network node, e.g. a OAM congestion reporting function node, for managing wireless device associated information, in particular for or as part of congestion handling. The nodes are comprised in a wireless communication network, such as a telecommunications network. The core network node obtains the wireless device associated information, encrypts it into an encrypted representation, and sends data comprising the encrypted representation to an OAM system via a RAN. The first network node receives, from the OAM system, the encrypted representation of the wireless device associated information, and decrypts it using one or more decryption keys accessible by the first network node.

  • Patent number: 10716169
Abstract: A first radio network node (208) and a method for establishing a communications interface between the first radio network node (208) and a second radio network node (210). The first radio network node is configured to provide one or more Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) resources and the second radio network node is configured to provide one or more New Radio (NR) resources. Further, the first and second radio network nodes are operating in a wireless communications network (200). The first radio network node obtains a Transport Network Layer (TNL) address of the second radio network node from one out of a first core network node (204); and another first radio network node (208) acting as a proxy. Furthermore, the first radio network node established a communications interface between the first and second radio network nodes based on the obtained TNL address.
