Abstract: Vegetation-based remediation systems, remediation straws, and in-line cartridges for groundwater treatment, and methods for installing vegetation-based remediation systems are disclosed herein. A vegetation-based remediation system can include a liner sleeve for positioning within an excavated hole and a bottom impermeable barrier positioned at a bottom of the excavated hole on which the liner sleeve resides. The vegetation-based remediation system can also include a straw for insertion in a hole through backfill soil mixture, the liner sleeve, and the bottom impermeable barrier and into the soil below the bottom impermeable barrier. The straw has an inlet well screen and an outlet well screen. A removable treatment cartridge can be inserted into the straw. The treatment cartridge can have a filter section with treatment media therein. The filter section can be positioned within the straw between the outlet well screen and the inlet well screen of the straw upon installation.

Abstract: A brake configured to decelerate a vehicle includes a brake surface and a brake lining, wherein in a decelerating state the brake lining and the brake surface are in contact and in a free-running state the brake lining and the brake surface are spaced apart. An electric motor is connected to an actuator push rod and configured to provide energy to move the actuator push rod from the free-running state to the decelerating state. The electric motor is further configured to operate as a generator and provide energy to an energy storage when the actuator push rod moves from the decelerating state to the free-running state.

The EHT management system can include a controller connected to the EHT circuit in order to selectively energize the EHT circuit.
